Ok Kenny has done little better, and spent a whole lot of money in the process. Yes there was the Torres sale but it was pretty much wasted on Andy Carroll. I couldn't fathom at the time how 35 million could be justified on such an unproven player, similarly the money spent on Henderson was a massive gamble.

Liverpool lack pace and they suffer for it. Bundles of vision and solidity in midfield in the improved Lucas (injured I know), Gerrard and Adam. I do like Adam a lot but there are too many passers and nobody to commit defenders. Carroll looks lumpier than Crouch, Kuyt is all industry only, Maxi offers flashes only, Skrtel has never been able to defend, only foul. Suarez is pure class but sometime I get the feeling he feels like he has to do it alone. I like Downing though he lacks pace and Bellamy is very productive.

Decent Striker, centre back to go with Agger who I like very much. A bit more pace in the wide areas and I really think Liverpool would be good to go.

Suarez is above average but he has missed loads of chances this season. Carroll is a joke player though.

Negative. Skrtel & Agger are currently as good as any other central defensive partnership in the league at present (with the exception of last night, more down to no holding midfielder being there). If anything, Skrtel has benefitted considerably from having a regularly fit Agger alongside him rather than a fading Carragher.

Coates has bags of potential and ability. A future Hyppia?

Pace is really lacking - 31 year old Bellamy is our only quick player which is rather worrying.

A new striker is essential. Defoe was rumoured and although I don't think Spurs would let him go I think we need someone in his mould.

Why isn't Coates playing? Kenny seems to have played all of his other major signings regularly, even the younger players.

About Adam. I love a good passer of the ball, and Adam looks great in highlights packages delivering Hollywood balls. However, I understand that Blackpool fans saw his limitations and the reason for his success. They rated David Vaughan as a more important player, voting him Player of the Year. From what I've read on their forums, many Blackpool fans thought that a player like Vaughan is needed to get the best out of Adam. Vaughan is a tidy little player, and keeps things ticking along steadily and sensibly in midfield, with a variety of passes and his coverage of territory. His play created the room in midfield for Adam to operate most effectively. Perhaps both Adam and Gerrard need a more defensively-minded player alongside them to get the best out of them?

Coates has made a handful of appearances this season in Cup matches and a few league matches. He has looked rather good in all of his appearances. The form of Skrtel & Agger is keeping him out at present, though I would assume that he is back up to those guys should injury occur.

Basically prinny that entire post boils down to what I said. They need Lucas, ideally, or Spearing to do the donkey work and recycle the football so Adam and Gerrard can get onto the ball and do what they do best.

What a week a double MANC scalping which I was at Anfield on wed night for the man city game atmosphere was awesome

That was a very interesting game from a reffing standpoint, and showed up the current consistency problem plaguing the referee's lately.

Maxi's two footer which was virtually identical to Kompanys in the manc derby = No card at all.

Aggers hand ball rebound off the leg in the box, was exactly like Micah Richards in the last game = No penalty.

Not wanting to take anything away from liverpool, but these kind of inconsistencies are costing teams big time.

To be fair though i thought UTD were mainly workmanlike at best, and played without any verve, liverpool deserved the win....bad reffing notwithstanding.

                      Good result again for liverpool.

I thought the constant booing of Evra just cause he had the chops to complain about racism was a bit off myself...

Another way to look at it is to acknowledge Kompany's now infamous tackle simply wasn't a red card offense in the first place. Unfortunately, that farce of a decision may prove to be a watershed moment in English football, if people keep allowing that to set a precedence for every innocuous challenge.

Nah, I don't think they are comparable. Richards' hand stopped what very well looked like a goal-bound strike (as in, back of the net). The ball today just bounced up against Agger's hand and wasn't goal-bound. Neither were intentional of course, but they were different.

Complaints about refereeing consistency is a strange one. The people officiating are obviously human, each person will always have a different interpretation based upon many different variables, not least the kind of person they actually are.

The only thing that should be reasonably expected is consistency within the 90+ minutes of a match. The best referees aren't the ones who stick to the rules and regulations to the letter, they are the people who remain true to their decisions and are always consistent in dealing with situations.

There was no fluke in appointing one of, if not the, most lenient referee currently serving in the Premier League and I think it was a success.

Consistency throughout a weekend between referees is wholly unrealistic, let alone a season. The sooner this is realised the more enjoyable the coverage from the games will be. All the wittering about consistency gets on my nerves.

                              Most bias quote ever.

By the time that shot hit Richards hand off his boot it was going MILES over. MILES over.

Not miles over. Apparently it would have hit the crossbar.
