The official LFC store features 'Johnson' in the drop-down box when choosing a name for the back of the shirt! lol

He's a good player, but the price is ridiculous. The top clubs are now paying well over the odds for players. Just stupid.

There's more rumours going about today (from "insiders" on forums and people who have told me good/bad news in the past - who I trust) that Alonso will defo go to Madrid this summer and that Masch could be on his way to Barca.
Say this was true, have we secured better players??? If so, who? Surely, these two are up in the top 5 of DMF and creative MF in the world?
Two steps backwards.

Mascherano is almost definitely one of the top defensive midfielders in the world. He is amazing at breaking up just about anything that comes into his area of the pitch. There aren't many better. The main contender to his role would have to be Essien, I think.
Alonso I wouldnt say is top 5 but he is definitely up there in the upper echelons of creative central midfielders.
If the reported figure of 45mil for Mascherano is true there aint much we can do but take it. He wants to leave and that amount of money is immense. He would be a massive improvement to Yaya Toure.
As for Alonso is the same, he wants to leave and there is no use keeping players that dont want to play for you anymore. I'm more disappointed about Mascherano than Alonso really, even though Alonso was the better player this year. Alonso was mistreated last Summer so I understand why he wants to leave.

Alonso I really like, but top 5 creative midfielders? Guess you'd have to include Gerrard in there, so that means you guys have 2 of the top 5, right? Lamps, Fabregas, Kaka, Xavi, Iniesta, etc
Talented players.
Then again, the world does seem lacking in truly great defensive midfielders right now; where are the Keanes and Vieras?
Regardless, ?45m is crazy money. You fellas should take it, if it's true

Looking at the financial situation Liverpool are in... They successfully refinanced but their position can't be healthy. They're what, £250mill in debt according to reports? They still need a bit more depth in their squad as they're reliant on Gerrard and Torres not getting injured.
Not as much as Chelsea or Man U but Man U are very profitable and Abramovich can't really call in his own debt without losing an insane amount of money so it's 'safe' debt.

Today the Mirror has reported Mascherano is only on £25k a week. The main reason for the rumblings of a move is because he wants about 75k a week.
In my opinion he is easily worth that money. If its a simple case of offering him more money to keep him then they'd better get to it very quickly.
