In fairness you arent and never will be of the calibre we're discussing here. Its widely recognised that Mascherano is one of the best, if not the best, in the world at providing a cover for the defence and being a destructive force in the middle of the pitch.

He definitely deserves much more than £25k a week considering Torres et al are on £100k+, as you say.

I think Torres and Gerrard are both on ?120k a week. Although that's only recently for Torres, he actually took a pay cut when he first came over.

If wages are the sticking point for Masch, we will keep him. Benitez loves him and I always get the feeling it is mutual. Replacing him would be very expensive and his replacement would notmake do with £25k.

What makes people confident that GJ is better than Jermaine Pennant? I think Johnson is good but is he not someone that just pumps it in and is quick?

Could be shifting their troubles back a year instead of resolving them. That's a fairly massive loss to turn into a profit. Hedging their bets on a title or good champions league run?

Arbeloa and Dossena out for a combined fee of 6 rubber bands and a curly wurly, Sami out on a free and only Johnson coming in the other direction. One bad injury at the back and we're in all kinds of trouble as things stand.
