Made up if we tie up a deal for Enrique. A strong and skillful player. Arguably the best LB of last season.

Looks like it's very likely to happen at the minute.

      EDIT: Now a done deal

Properly official now. Very happy with that signing, especially for the price.

I think he will usurp Aurelio as the first choice, even though Aurelio rarely plays he still has quality that is hard to dispute. He may even be better than Enrique, but with Enriques fitness pretty much guaranteed compared with Aurelio he will have to become first choice.

I'm getting excited about the game tomorrow, now. It'll probably turn out to be a disappointment knowing how slowly the club have started the last few years but we can always hope.

Very happy with the signing too The squad is looking pretty healthy now with the new signings and some dead weight shipped out. If we can grab a centre back (Cahill and Danny have been rumoured, I'd be happy with either) and keep Aquilani I'd be thrilled with this seasons squad.

Are you lot feeling confident or was Saturday's match a sign of the season to come for us. Play great in patches but then totally collapse.

We should have buried Sunderland, but that second half performance was awful. It looked like the players were knackered whereas Sunderland could have easily won the game. Of course we should still do much better than last season but after watching Chelsea and Man U's games we've definitely got a long way to go to compete.

I didn't see a collapse, thats a bit much. Sunderland's goal was superb and apart from that they were not constantly peppering the goal. Thats not to say the team dont need to improve on the performance against Sunderland. Liverpool need some time to get the team playing together. Andy Carroll, with some game time, will hopefully look sharper and get more chances. Champions League qualification is still a realistic target though.

Chelsea drew and United laboured to a win against West Brom, of course it was a win so its hard to criticise. However, that shows its not gonna be plain sailing for everybody.

With 4 new players and a strike duo that, due to Carroll's injuries, haven't played that many games together I think it'll be a while before we hit a run of consistency - especially while we find out our best system too. Top 4 at best this season for me but it's far from expected.

Man U will have to go 3 or 4 games with a crippled defence along with a keeper who isn't exactly setting the world alight so far. Winning 2-1 in a game with only 1 on target shot is a kind of luck they won't be able to rely on.

Chelsea... played much better than a 0-0 would suggest (I'd argue we put on the best performance of the big teams at the weekend) but we're still too narrow and that was one of our big problems last season.

Man City look set to play their same old dull dull football but they've much more quality in their squad so it could work for them.

Personally, I thought Liverpool's game was a mirrored a lot of performances last season where they failed to capitalise on a dominant period and ended up dropping points. The league is too hard to predict this year though, I doubt we'll see any clear indicator of how teams will pan out until winter at the earliest.

Great performance last night at Exeter. Suarez looked the bees knees.

Only player who looked a bit off was Charlie Adam - seemed to be having one of those games.

Gary Speed backs possible Craig Bellamy move to Liverpool

Wales manager Gary Speed has backed the possibility of striker Craig Bellamy returning to Liverpool.
The 32-year-old spent last season on loan at Cardiff City and is surplus to requirements at Manchester City.
Reports claim Bellamy is being lined up for a free transfer to Anfield as back-up to first-choice strikers Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez.

"Liverpool are a fantastic club and if that is true and it comes off, that would be great," said Speed.

"Hopefully by the end of the transfer window things will be sorted out."
Wales manager Gary Speed has welcomed reports linking striker Craig Bellamy with a return to Liverpool.

Not sure if this is good news or bad; kind of zoned out during his spell at Liverpool.

He is a decent enough player, he is just an arsehole. Nobody likes him and there must be a good reason for it.

He will be a very good squad player and will probably allow Maxi to move home like he has asked to. Its another winger/striker to add to the ranks and for a freebie that'd be fine by me.

Surely we can do much, much better than revisiting Craig Bellamy, even on a free?

Feel a lot more confident after that performance. Suarez impressed again (he really is a class above) and packing the midfield seems to be working - an old skool tactic but one that seems to work.

Can?t argue with a free I guess (unless he's on mega money) but it does go against the new policy. I thought NESV wanted all of liverpools signings to be 28 and under or something along those lines.

                              Yossi to make a return?

Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles makes a move to Chelsea on a four-year deal for £12m.

Would much rather he come back than Bell-end, to be brutally honest. Superior (albeit different) player and not nearly as much of a twat. That said, he did leave us on fairly bad terms, so a return would seem unlikely...

Bit of a shame to see Raul go but no point keeping him if he doesn't want to be here.

Quite pleased with Bellamy on a free (certainly better than Ngog) just got to hope we remain injury free in midfield.
