I've caught some of the U-20 World Cup on eurosport.
The games I've seen have been TERRIBLE. Every game was played at a sub-pedestrian pace in the searing heat of Colombia. There's been some decent goals and some heavy scores, but I seem to have missed many of those games, sod's law as it is. Although, I have seen a couple of games with a few goals, and even they were a rubbish spectacle, about as exciting as the daily ****.
England in particular have been TWAT. They played four games and did not score a single goal. The standard of their play was useless, they could barely string a pass together. In those temperatures, keeping the ball is a must, and they utterly failed to do that. Awful, depressing toss.

We're back up to fourth in the latest FIFA world rankings. You'll also be glad to hear that Spain's reign of dominance is over, they're no longer the best team in the world! That's now the Dutch, who go top for having a friendly against England cancelled while Spain lost a friendly to Italy.

Kinda weird how much the press were laying into Lampard after the England game whilst in the same articles, hyping the return of Gerrard. Neither players have been great for England but I'll never understand why Gerrard gets a free pass. Far too often he gives the ball away cheaply, allowing opposing sides to run through the mid field for a quick counter.
That aside, England have a new generation coming through and there needs to be a focus on building a more stable squad now rather than focusing on flavour of the months (especially with goalkeeping)

A crap game. England's skill levels are chod, and there's a feeble amount of off-the-ball runs, meaning nearly every pass is obvious and goes nowhere. Ashley Cole has been awful; fouling people, giving away a cheap corner, and generally being lousy with his passing. England's midfield has to be one of the slowest, fattest ever, with Milner, Lampard and Barry lumbering around making 10 yard passes look difficult.
A real borefest.
