after a promising start England settled into their usual. Lots of possession but other than the goal, next to no convincing efforts.

Nothing that suggests we wouldn't get another repeat of the world cup if we played decent sides.

Rooney running around like a tit in a trance again, hunting the ball deep. Great pass for Cole early on, but not much since. If England play a diamond midfield would it be possible to play him behind a front two? In the role that Hagi or (sometimes) Stoichkov used to play? He doesn't really get into the box much anyway, and could pull more strings from further back, where he seems to be spending most of his time this year.

Does make you wonder how he'd perform in a mid field role.

Would take balls to try it though. Could be a disaster.

That's Dawson's season over. I'll be amazed if something isn't broken. Really sucks for him.

There doesn't seem to be any urgency to kill off the game.

England get to two thirds up the pitch before they stop, look around and play the ball back to their defence.

The tempo needs to stay high as the Bulgarians aren't in a hurry to run about and there needs to be a second goal to take the edge off.

Rooney just doesn't seem very hungry to develop an understanding with another centre forward.

Well, that's Dawson gone, looked nasty.
Jebus and FanMyDodd will be getting all wet now Cahill is on.

At least Hart is playing well, and actually looks like he's enjoying the match...

Sadly we love to destroy our keepers. Dropping them after a single mistake

Quite like Hart. He made a point of going up to our keeper after the game the other day and congratulating him on his performance. A rare touch of class in the modern game, possibly due to coming up from a lowly team, plying his trade in lower divisions, instead of being a big team academy brat.
