it's been a great season, lots of ups and downs and very exciting as a result.

I'd agree with that Neil. No team running away with it = more interesting. The bottom of the table will go right to the wire, too. Good riddance the days of million point leads and teams sat adrift at the bottom with 18, or (cough) 15 points.

        Plus a champions league finalist.

        Not a terrible PL season.

A 6-5 non league result is exciting too, don't mean the football's anything to shout about.

The draw made it pretty hard for there not to be one.

Meh, typical Chelsea fan making excuses. The PL has been fantastic to watch this season for fans. Yes it has lacked the top stars and Chelsea and Utd haven't been at their best all season but plenty of teams outside them have.
Man Utd, Liverpool(late on), Newcastle, Blackpool, Spurs, Arsenal, Bolton and a fair few other have given us some very entertaining matches this season. You are just confusing runaway leaders with top quality football.

So for a handful of good games we should ignore that Spurs have been pretty dire since their Champions League exit? That Arsenal can't break down defensive teams and try to pass the ball into the net? That Liverpool have spent at least half the season playing long ball football? Chelsea had their worst run of form since I've been alive? Man U's form being only slightly better? Man City playing some of the most boring football in the league and it isn't even getting them results?

I'm not making excuses, Chelsea have been poor and didn't deserve the title, I'm chuffed that we're looking at second but if you think this season's been a great showcase for British football, you need to take the blinkers off.

You are mixing up result with excitement. Yes Liverpool were poor early on but hey have gotten a lot better, moving the ball nicely and creating excellent chances. Spurs have dipped off but their games have been very entertaining win lose or draw. Man Utd at times have played very very well, at times pretty boring. Arsenal were flying at points this season scoring some fantastic goals, again they have struggled in some matches. City are dull by and large, no arguments there.

Throughout the whole of the seasons there has been quality football matches. Yes not all of the 'big' teams have been at their max potential, but plenty of others have filled in with entertaining matches.

Football is entertainment, not about all the big teams crushing the smaller ones.

You're just highlighting how entertaining it's been for the neutral there, watching the top 6 piss its pants at times. The league doesn't begin and end with the top six. There's been some great games to watch for the neutral this season. Exciting games. Like the Mags coming back from 4 down. Early season Blackpool. Some of West Brom's efforts. Football should be primarily about excitement - it's a spectator sport. I've been entertained enough this season to conclude that it has been a decent run out for the Premier League this year. The idea that technically good football is always entertaining is as misguided as the idea that error-strewn football is dull to watch.

It's a more competitive League nowadays.

I'm with smurf on this, sure its been close and had ups and downs but no team has compared to the great utd, chelsea and arsenal title winning teams (have to go back a bit for that last reference)

Its kind of instead of being F1 the prem has gone a bit 'touring cars', fine if you like that kind of thing but its not the pinnacle of football excellence its meant to be, merely a high end championship with bigger budgets. Too much tat, not enough quality.

Yeah gotta agree with Abigsmurf it's not been the best of seasons by a long shot. It started off good but its really dropped in quality the last few months on all levels and although we are all but Champions & CL finalists its def been our weakest PL winning side in a long time possibly since the start of the Premier League. The top 4 in general have all been weaker than ever and bar Tottenham & Blackpool in the first half of the season it hasn't matched some of the exciting PL seasons of old. That said you are always going to get entertainment from the top flight but def not one of the better seasons.

It's easy to say the prem has gotten worse. But you could argue that the other teams have simply just improved. Man Utd have only had four defeats this season. They got 79 points in the treble season, and 80 in 2000 - 2001. Only standout was the 91 in the 99-00 season. They on course to beat those totals. If it wasn't for our dodgy away form, and conceding a few last minute goals, title race would have been over a long time ago. I do agree this isn't the best Man Utd team ever.
