Yeah he did seem slightly more subdued than normal. If he wins the Champions League there's nothing really left for him to achieve at Inter anyway so I could see him ending up in Spain to add another major league title to his haul!

On a lecherous note, those models they had presenting the medals and carrying the cup were lovely. Gotta love Italy

Interesting start to the Serie A season with all the top teams having dodgy results (like Roma losing 5-1 to Cagliari!) and there could be another upset tonight. Catania just took the lead away at Milan with a sensational goal.

Looks like it. Roma have done well to push Inter close on a few occasions (they really should have won it last season, if only they hadn't slipped up against Sampdoria with a couple of games to go!) but even in those seasons it was a two horse race at best.

Now you have all the big teams like Inter, Roma, Milan, Juve looking like they're good enough to be up there but not immune to dropping silly points. The mid-level teams like Napoli, Lazio, Samp and Palermo look good enough to upset the big teams on their day and are capable of putting a good run together, so hopefully it should be a topsy turvy season.

With a bit of luck no team will be able to pull away and build up a big lead at the top.

Indeed. Hopefully a new generation of talent will emerge in the next few years, and Serie A will be on the rise again. I miss Football Italia on Channel 4. Those were the days lol.
