Pretty even and open game so far with 2 cracking goals.

Uruguay had some 2 chances, and made 2 goals.
Meh, not that happy while I should be. Forlan goal was a rare mistake by the goalie. We pretty much controlled the game apart from that, should've made 2-0 instead of pulling back.
And then this unnecessary 3-2, while Robben should've given Persie the ball for 4-1. Didn't like that at all.
Still, Opponents like Germany or Spain will play more on the offense. If we can outplay Brazil in the 2nd half, we can beat them too. Germany looks good, but really haven't faced an organized team yet, basically only Ghana and Serbia and those didn't really go all that smooth for them. Spain are struggling inside the box, but got a strong feeling that they will be our opponent.Last edited by saturn-gamer; 06-07-2010, 20:42.

So so game. Only really came to life in the second half. Some very iffy defending from both teams. Should the Germans make the final which i think they will, i simply can't see the Dutch living with them playing like that. The Dutch just haven't captured my imagination much like Brazil, and i also thought in the quarters the Dutch were lucky to not go into half time 4-0 down as Brazil completely outplayed them. To say i'll be surprised if the Dutch win it on their current form is an understatement.
Spain on the otherhand have been exceptionally poor all tournament and have literally scraped through and i have a nagging feeling that the Germans will avenge their 2008 defeat with interest especially if they keep Villa quiet. Spain certainly have it in them to beat the Germans but on what i've seen so far, i seriously doubt it.

Spain still has difficulties to score, but started without Torres now which actually makes them a more dangerous side with a bigger focus on midfield.
You just can't expect Spain to play so incredibly dull as Argentina and England did against Germany. Spain will not give away those spaces and therefore were my favourites for this match.

Tis a bit dull really. No heavy commitments up front, no exciting runs, lots of half hearted attempts on goal.
And they've just said "this game needs a goal" on the BBC. How many times have they said that this tournament? Usually the goal they're after ends up making the game even more dull.

It kind of reminds of rope a dope. Germany seem happy to let Spain have the ball then snuff them out and counter. Can be risky but there's no arguing Spains passing game is probably better, but as long as Germany are tight at the back and break at speed, i don't think they will be too worried about Spain having the ball, because they are not attacking for all their possession.
I'm not sure Germany can play the game they employed against England or the Argies as they were afforded more space in those games. Spain are a better outfit both in attack and defense which is why Germany are a bit more cagey.
