its the laziness of it that gets me, recall Ian Wright on ESPN, first game of the season and Stubbs asked him what he thought of Arsenal's new signing Vermaelen - 'dunno, not heard him' was the reply. great in depth stuff as always from Wrighty there.

Ray Parlour on the radio today talking about lovely flowing Brazilian footy, its clear the bloke hasn't been watching much of Dunga's team and how they set up.

Andy Townsend, Kevin Keegan, Lawro, Robbie Earle etc, total waste of time the lot of them.

there are a couple who make the radio who are brilliant, I love Gab Marcotti and Guillerm Balague but they are really proper journo's who turn their hand to it.

I've just bookmarked the bbc radio 5 live site on my phone. Streaming from there looks likely to be the only option for my football fix during work.

Considered buying a tv but its a big expense just for the once I'll use it.

        Predictions for opening day?

I think Mexico can actually beat SA. Be good to see France play with some flair of old. I am pretty excited by both these openers.

My first proper World Cup following was Mexico86 (and a completed sticker album!)
Vague, very vague memories of Spain82.

The world cup is the best thing ever.

Hoping to see some unknown talent, that is always exciting.

        Man - I'm excited.

that's why the only pundit i would actually go out of my way to listen to is Lee Dixon. Instead of just showing a clip of a defender slicing the ball and saying "that's really bad defending", he'll explain why a team is defending badly (or well) based on player positioning or the system they are using rather than just an obvious one-off mistake.

Colin Murray is taking over on MOTD2 apparently.

As for tomorrows games, easy wins for Mexico and France for me...

Talking about streaming to your phone. I use the Talk Sport app to listen on the go but by heck it nails my battery life. I can quite literally see my battery percentage going down like a timer!

YongGary Mabbut said exactly the same thing on the sky last night about how Brazil are all out attack with no defence. Me and the missus both agreed he was talking ****e as Dunga is defence minded and plays two defensive midfielders. Much to the annoyance of their own fans.

How can people talk about the poor quality of our pundits when they show such expertise as this:

good to see Diego's advanced cutting edge methods in use to prepare the Argies for the WC

Fabio should try a similar method placing a cows backside in each corner of the net and seeing if he can succesfully get 'big Emileskey' (copyright keggy) to hit them with a very large banjo.

Ian Wright is an utter cock in my book , when it comes to football pundits. I don't think Andy Towsend is that bad to be fair
The trouble is the British Based pundits are too horribly bias , every word cup we can win it when England haven't got a pray this world cup but every English based Pundit can't say it , and every world Cup feel the need to have Foreign Internationals join the panel,

I quite like listing to Danny Kelly on Talksport, for Football annalist (mind you he was brilliant on Under the Moon) , and listing to Barry Davies for the Football commentary. One of the most underrated and under valued Football commentators there is imo . I so wish Ian darke was doing the Football commentary for BBC or ITV. He's wasted with SKY, the man is a brilliant Football commentator
