If they keep on adding quality players at this rate then it's very hard to see them not making the top four next season. Looking ominous for the likes of Spurs, we're gonna have to make some very astute signings to be able to compete.

They had a wealth of talent at their disposal last year and didn't quite make it. Having the players is one thing but it's no guarantee of success - I'm not convinced Mancini is the man to 'take them to the next level'. There's no guarantee that he'll see out this season either of course.

Cole didn't get very many starts, which is why he left.

He wouldn't play in Ballack's position either. £6.5mil for a 30 year old ain't bad. Especially considering Dani Pacheco is coming through, who looks to be a similar player to Benayoun.

Murphy + Hangeland rumours are persisting. I'm not sure about either at all, Murphy is 33 now. Also Gilberto Silva is another rumoured target. Again, he is old. All in all, unless someone big goes and the money is pumped back in, Liverpool's transfer dealings are gonna be ****e.
