Sounds a bit hairy! I was close to being caught up in the riots in Tottenham a couple of years ago (if you call being there an hour or so before the trouble started close ) when I'd hung around longer than usual after our friendly against Athletic Bilbao.

On my way back to Seven Sisters tube station I went past a big group of people who were heading to the police station to protest. They were reporting the first bits of trouble by the time I got back home. Very glad things didn't kick-off when I was still in the area!

One of my favourite matches of the season tonight, the Genoa derby between Sampdoria and Genoa, largely because I love the Marassi stadium so much and it looks extra special during the derby. Both teams are looking poor this season, but it's usually an intense match. Kicking off with the pitch barely visible thanks to the smoke!

Watched Hoffenheim - M'glabach today which was rather enjoyable.

Real trounced Galatasaray 1-6. Sad and funny to see Bale is as I expected completely useless for Real Madrid. Ancelotti tried him at the right flank, but he has absolutely no right foot whatsoever. And Ronaldo is invincible on the left flank, so yeah well done Perez.

His right foot isn't totally useless, I remember him scoring against Man Utd and Chelsea with his right foot. He could be effective on the right wing too eventually, cutting in and shooting with his left, Robben style (scored quite a few for Spurs lasts season, doing that).

Milan vs Napoli should be a cracker tonight, already 1-0 to Napoli after five minutes and they have a couple of chances they should have scored even before that. Rafa Benitez is certainly making up for his time at Inter, so far this season. Rome derby was a bit of a damp squib earlier though, until the last 20 mins when it got a bit better.

There's also PSG vs Monaco tonight, if you prefer the soulless battle of some oil baron's playthings

Real won 4-1 today. Bale didn't play, wasn't needed. Isco on 10 and CR on left wing is set in stone. Isco is extremely good. While Bale can play on the right wing, I doubt he's more useful than Di Maria there. He's a good replacement for CR, probably, but I don't think you break a transfer record for a substitute. I don't know what Perez was smoking.

The true problem for Real lies at the centre striker position, Benzema screws up too much. I think they'll want to go for Falcao, but he isn't the ideal striker for this Real either. If they're smart they chase Lewandowski, hes the perfect choice between trigger happy Ronaldo and Isco.

As for Italy, its going well. I cheer for Napoli but AS Roma has my sympathy as well. Especially nice seeing how good Strootman is doing there. The loss of Cavani has only made Napoli stronger, Higuain is just as good and they signed others with him as well.

There are a lot of good footballing sides at the top end of Serie A this season. Roma, Napoli, Fiorentina and Inter are all playing attractive stuff. Inter vs Fiorentina tonight, didn't realise it was on, an unexpected treat.

Would really like to see Roma win the title again, but a Napoli or Fiorentina victory would be great too. Hard to see past Juve winning it though.

Totti is still such a joy to watch, pulling all the strings as Roma are ripping Bologna apart. Lovely football.

And again this week. Roma 3-0 up at half time away to Inter with two goals for Totti. Roma are looking really really good this season, no European football distractions, maybe it could be their year.

Was gonna add another poor result for Real Madrid but they just got a last minute equaliser against Levante (not that a draw is that great either). Ha, still spoke too soon, two last minute goals for Madrid and they win 3-2.

You could see Levante never had the belief they required.

Apparently Serie A has relocated to Canada, this commentator has said "Calgary" instead of "Cagliari" countless times now. Clive Allen has managed to pronounce their name in ten different ways too, trying to decide which is worse.

Juventus vs Napoli tonight, hopefully it should be a cracking match.

                        Pogba = class.

Not to mention German and French. I stick with Italian and Spanish though, not interested in French football and for some reason the German league has never quite captured my imagination, no idea why. Plus there's only so much time one can spend watching football

After his slow, injury hit start, it looks like Bale is really settling into life at Real Madrid. Two goals and an assist for him tonight against Valladolid (so far). He's up to eight goals and seven assists now. Great to see him doing well, even if I wish he was still doing it in a Spurs shirt!

He got a hat trick in the end.

Superb match between Inter and Parma on right now. 3-3 and only an hour gone.

                              Jinxed it, finished 3-3

Taking my mind off the fun at Spurs with some Serie A action. Milan vs Roma tonight, should hopefully be a very good match.
