Yeah, if I buy it, which I will eventually, I know I will have awesome fun with it but it's the fact that Americans got to have the same fun, months earlier for half the bloody price that annoys me. I might just split the cost with a few mates to justify it a bit more.

It's value for money IMO. I still play this with various mates etc almost 6 months after US release...not many games have that appeal these days. I paid a lot more than ?180 for mine with shipping VAT etc but if a ?40 game last approx a month then this is dripping with value IMO.

I'm fairly certain that Play pay the VAT on items over ?18 - they were definitely doing so when I bought my 360 from them a year ago.

I'd hope so (even though I'm not buying Rock Band anyway!)

My HDDVD player didn't have VAT charged but I wondered whether that was just lucky, if they're paying the VAT all is aces. Strange they can offer it so cheap. Maybe the huge price is from retailers demanding a massive markup because of the cost to them to store. I mean, Play must still be making a profit so the RRP is at least ?40 in excess of the cost to EA, which is a huge profit for a videogame!

This is what I was thinking to myself earliar. I assume they are ion hella huge boxes and most stores aren't going to have room for many. So the massive margins involved help with that.

anything that starts its travels within the EU will ahve the tax paid

thats what play put on the jiffy bags anyway

Playusa however will warn you about tax on anything over ?18 and ask you to continue with your purchase

                  i remember before they split (play.com & playusa = play247.com)

they used to refund all duties
