There is nothing definitive, but I always take into account the following:
    • Is it a niche genre?/not to western tastes. A good example of this was Katamari on the PS2.
    • Who is publishing it and does it have a lot of advertising behind it? A small publisher sometimes can mean a small print run.
    • Lastly look in shops. If there is no copies or a small amount on the shelf compared to other releases then chances are this is because there is less made.
As I said there are no hard and fast rules, but after working in videogame retail for a good few years, I did get a feel for what would become scarce.

I should have said, this is just Xbox360 games which is the only platform I play at the moment. I won't look at the piles of Wii, PS2, Cube etc games that I have

Good tips there. Cheers mate. I suppose there is always eBay to fall back on if months/years down the line I fancy picking up a title that I orignally missed. Although the risk of the price being inflated is the chance one takes.

If I added up all my unplayed games, then I'd have a really big *gulp*!

With regard to scarcity... Just how often does it actually happen, and how important is it really that you secure every game you desire for a fiver? My bet is the answer to the first question is "not very likely", and the answer to the second is "not at all".

The track your expenditure thread has acted as motivator for me to decrease my spending on games and actually spend decent time with the games that I buy. I'm actually spending more on individual games (happy to pay full whack-ish if I know I'll get my monies worth) but spending less overall. Also as I sell on quite quickly after I've grown bored I make back a decent amount anyway.

I'm a sucker for Ltd/Collector editions. The more tat that it comes with, (dvd's making of, posters, soundtracks, artbooks, figurines), the better!

Is there any way of ascertaining what numbers constitutes Ltd/Collectors Editions, or is it just an easy way of scamming fools like me out of more money?

This any good to you? Uncharted 2: ?14:79

If I'm looking for a bargain I quite often check out find-games as they tend to be quite good.
