    Playstation RGB SCART cable

Looking primarily for recommendations/source to purchase new rather than buy here a well shielded, well made but sensibly priced Playstation RGB SCART (1.5 - 2m).

I have several mostly GAME bought PS/PSOne gold plated but skinny PS RGB SCART cables which work fine except they seem to produce mild but annoying crosstalk interference with my PS2/TV set up. My prime, better quality PS2 RGB SCART but now faulty cable doesn't have this problem probably due to the heavier cable/shielding. So that's my main consideration but I can't find anything like it now myself.

Blaze, if you cannot find an official one.
    Kept you waiting, huh?

        Thanks.

I did first look for an official Sony RGB SCART of any Playstation generation. I imported the Component one very cheaply from the US last year and have been very happy with that but can't find any official RGB SCART.

I would say looks like the Blaze then but if you're talking about the Blaze Ultimate RGB SCART + AV with winder I'm not so keen. I bought one of those for my nephew and whilst it may have given good PQ (never used it on my own set up so I don't know) it a). looked horrible, b). the soft clear plastic cables became a horribly twisted over time and c). the Composite switch mechanism broke.

Surely there some other decent, affordable, non-official ones people can recommend?

If you can find an Official PS3 RGB Scart lead, it's exactly the same as the PS2 cable, and works fine on the PS1. It's pretty damn chunky too, the best official cable I've ever seen (and far higher quality than the official Component cable).

You could also get the official component.

Official scart cable are pretty hard to find though, very hard in fact.

              Yes, I've found that out.

As said I've already got the official Component cable but I need a RGB SCART for my other PS/PS2 set up primarily for 50Hz only PAL PS/PS2 games on my RGB SCART only 100Hz CRT. They generally look better on that than on my main gaming TV which is set up for Component/prog scan.

Ah. I've got an unofficial RGB SCART cable I got from HK for like £3.50 and it works great.

Getting an official SCART cable with my TEST PS2 soon so I'll see how they are side by side.

I'll be interested to read your comparison results.

As I indicated earlier I do have a selection of cheap PS RGB SCARTs and have no issue with the general PQ they give. It's the fact they all produce small and varying amounts of what must be crosstalk interference with this particuar PS2/TV set-up that my, now faulty, but clearly better quality RGB SCART cable doesn't.

I've long been a believer that cheap(ish) cables are usually just as good
as their often ridiculously expensive counterparts. But until you try them with a particular set-up you just don't know how they'll perform with regards to interference.

the general rule of thumb is always buy official. I know the blaze ps2 lead produces a perfect rgb signal with no interference (as does the official ps1 rgb lead)

if you are wanting better quality and it sounds like this is fairly important to you, its best not to skimp a few quid buying a cheap 3rd party lead....

There no reason why a cheap cable shouldn't work fine if the wiring and soldering is of a high enough standard. Thing is with the PS/PS2 SCART cables I've looked at is even when they seem well made they aren't all built using the same value or even the same components as each other let alone match the supposed standard PS RGB SCART wiring design you can find online.

Surely these variations must affect performance and could be the source of some the problems you may encounter.

This is really why I was interested in specific recommendations for a good PS(2) RGB SCART cable + source.

There is an older Blaze cable. It comes in a red and white box, and is grey in colour. It's pretty much a direct copy of the official one, although the cable isn't as chunky. I may have my one knocking about in the loft, which I'd be prepared to sell. I'll check tomorrow.

If you do manage to find an official one, be prepared to pay upwards of £30 for it. They were £27.99 in the shops, and they are like gold dust now.

                        This one looks decent mind.

I found that one myself and it sounded like just what I wanted. Although I didn't intend to buy it then I decided to check out the payment pages worked with my non-PC system as sometimes eBay pro-sellers don't send you direct to Paypal.

Nowhere could I see a warning on the listing but it showed the seller actually requires a full Paypal account. I just have a CC registered account so the seller has lost out on my potential custom, not the first one for this reason either.

Also on eBay are variously priced Joytech Fusion ones which get really **** reviews on Amazon but I also found a 'PS3' RGB SCART which looks better than the bulk of the other, mostly HK located, cheapos my search came up with.

If you do have a spare Blaze lead as described I'd be interested but I can't guarantee to buy at this time. I've been looking at my post-Xmas funds (both bank and CC statements arrived today) and unfortunately may well have to put this off until next month or later

Yeah no probs bud. If I find it I'll let you know and we can work something out. It appears that that guy accepts credit cards via paypal so you should be alright with him non? You kinda lost me with our non-pc system talk and stuff
