Nintendo DS Hardware Review
For Nintendo to release a new piece of hardware in the US before Japan must mean something isn't quite right in the state of Denmark. Regardless, American fans must be rubbing their stylus-toting hands in glee at their week (or so's) worth of good fortune.

Dreamcast DIY - An early look at homebrew on Sega's console
In the early days of the home computer, users were forced into being technically savvy. Bits, bytes and pokes were all terms in daily use whilst trying to play games, and this was early computing’s double edged sword. Whilst many people considered this to make the machines completely inaccessible, it also gestated the early bedroom coding scene.
With today's more user-accessible computers comes a certain level of transparency between the user and computer. Users no longer need a degre... -

Basic Guide To Japanese For Video Games
By Electric Boogaloo and ½pint Japanese is a very complicated language to learn, and something which takes time, effort and a lot of perseverance. It is a language unlike any languages we traditionally learn in England. Everything from the alphabet to sentence structure is different to English, but like many things in Japan, follows a tight structure and recognisable pattern. There is no way we could teach even the most willing student the language of Japanese, but we are an import site, and b...

Panasonic Q Hardware review
An article by Kamaran Sheikh.
'Good things come to those who wait'. Unfortunately, it seems no matter how patient you are, the UK market will never see the Panasonic Gamecube sold on general release in the UK. The 'Q' for short, is a Hybrid DVD player and Nintendo Gamecube. Released exclusively to the Japanese market shortly after the Nintendo Gamecube, the Q is branded one of the most elite and exclusive console machines available today.
The primary advantage of a Q over the ... -

Import Videogame FAQ
This FAQ was originally written by Jez Overton and has been modified a bit to try and cover HDTV slightly. However, much of this FAQ is most relevant for retro consoles that need to have the display signal type factored into the mix.
When you first start out on the road to importing video games and consoles, you are probably asking "What do I need?" and "What should I avoid?". This FAQ aims to address most of the queries people have about importing ... -

Appearing recently on digital storefronts, this digital exhibition coincides with the 20th anniversary re-release and bringing together of Radiohead's Kid A and Amnesiac albums. It's been made in collaboration between the band and Epic Games, though it's also very quick to tell you that it is not a game, epic or otherwise. That, I think, is a mixture of nervous expectation-setting, alongside its creators selling both games, and what they've created, short.
Unless you're one of those sorts...-

by Charles ROnce upon a time, there was a Freeloader. It was late, as usual, but everyone waited with baited breath, because it promised much.
And so it came to pass, the Freeloader finally arrived, and oh what gifts it brought. The ability to de-zone everyone's Gamecubes. Finally, an easy (and cheap) way for anyone in the world to play games from anywhere else in the world. It was welcomed with open arms.
Datel, after many delays, have now released their de-zoning disc. Twice. The f...-

by ArchivesDescribing the greatness of Goldeneye isn't the easiest task in the world. If you were to show it to a gamer who has recently been showered with PC First Person Shooters such as Far Cry, then they'd scoff at the low-polygon landscapes, the poor digitised textures of Robbie Coltrane and the frame rate equivalent to the IQ of a table leg. They'd be missing the point though, as levels such as "Surface" are the forebears to Far Cry's grand vistas.
Which leads us nicely into one of the reaso...-

by ArchivesAs a first visit to any kind of games show, it was going to be very interesting to see what all the fuss was about. I remember reading about the Tokyo Game Show among other shows in magazines years back and having a sense of delight and amazement. Did you ever dream of going to a game show in Japan? I'm sure it's something most avid gamers can associate with. On Sunday the 28th of September, my wife and I headed towards Makuhari messe from western Tokyo, a journey of 2 hours. When we finally ...
