Kobayashi Maru out now for the Atari Jaguar.
The Reboot guys at Jagware have been releasing a steady stream of homebrew titles for the last couple of years, delivering the quite enjoyable Downfall earlier in 2011. They've just released their latest game Kobayashi Maru.
It's available as a free download for the CD add on and Skunkboard and apparantly will be going in to a small production run for those that want a properly manufactured disc. With strong overtones of the classic Time Pilot and rotary controller support to boot it's ... -

Skunkboards available (while stocks last)
For those not familiar, prior to the launch of the Indie Games service on the Xbox 360, over the last decade the Atari Jaguar has been one of the biggest success stories for console-based homebrew game development. Thanks to the campaigning of Thunderbird (of super-coveted Battlesphere fame) and several others, Hasbro released the rights for the Atari Jaguar to the community back in 1999, enabling anyone to create and brand a game for the old cat without having to pay any licensing fees. Since...

Tokyo Game Show 2011 Report
Confusion is not a word that has positive connotations. Whether it’s in news reports, or psychological reports, or art criticism, the use of the word immediately creates links to words on its broader senses: uncertainty, incertitude, anxiety, bafflement, turmoil, mess, shambles. Nothing that makes one feel optimistic, yet it’s a word that seems appropriate to describe the 2011 edition of the Tokyo Game Show, held on September 15th to the 18th.
So many things did not make sense. At the K... -

R.I.P. NTSC-uk. Long live Bordersdown!
In case you hadn't noticed the new url, NTSC-uk has now rebranded as Bordersdown.
Our basic mission remains similar:
We passionately review any game, whatever the region, whatever the format. The NTSC-uk name was iconic and lasted for 10 years, but apart from the Wii (and retro gaming), it doesn't hold much current relevance for the HD generation. Therefore we held a competition to find a name. ...

Playstation Vita Region Free confirmed
We would like to congratulate Sony on their decision that (to the best of their knowledge caveat) the PS Vita will be region free. Whilst Nintendo went mad and locked down their 3DS handheld after years of region-free handheld gaming, common-sense has prevailed at Sony. This will make life easier for importers who wish to try games only released in single territories, or to buy games while travelling. Well played Sony! Now if you would just let those of us in Euroland actually buy the ...

The Ultimate Xbox Game list (for the Original Xbox)
Fairly simple one this. It's the Ultimate Xbox game list (original Xbox).
It's a list of all the original Xbox games and an array of info about them. It will be updated as new info comes in. If you have any extra info to add, please hit the "discuss" link at the bottom of this page.
Thanks to Katsujinken for putting this together. He would like to credit Wikipedia's list as his starting point.

How to Play Imported Games on your Console
This guide was written by Jez Overton (and added to by charlesr) to show the different methods available for each console to circumvent the region protection on imported games. In this guide we will be asking four questions for each of the main consoles.
1. Is there a boot disc or other device available?
See our software FAQ for more information on boot discs and other devices
2. Can the console be modified to play imports? S... -

TV Compatability Guide for consoles up to the PS2/GC/Xbox/DC generation
A guide by John Beaulieu. Please feel free to ask questions and we'll do our best to answer.
Introduction - Incompatibility
Buy a console (up to the PS2/GC/Xbox/DC generation) from abroad and the chances are you won't be able to play it, straight from the box, in the UK. This incompatibility is the result of the different countries adopting different TV broadcast systems. The following... -

Easy Xbox 360 Cooling Mod
Do you have an old Xbox 360 with which you live in fear of RROD at any moment? If so, give it a fighting chance with this easy Xbox 360 Cooling Mod. Lots of requests come into our forum for this sort of mod, so I thought it would be useful to place the relevant links into an article. Many thanks to llamma and rbjtech - my US Xbox 360 died and MS UK repaired it for me under warranty (so thanks to MS!) Then I did the mod below and it has run perfectly ever since (so I've only ever had the one console...

Appearing recently on digital storefronts, this digital exhibition coincides with the 20th anniversary re-release and bringing together of Radiohead's Kid A and Amnesiac albums. It's been made in collaboration between the band and Epic Games, though it's also very quick to tell you that it is not a game, epic or otherwise. That, I think, is a mixture of nervous expectation-setting, alongside its creators selling both games, and what they've created, short.
Unless you're one of those sorts...-

by Charles ROnce upon a time, there was a Freeloader. It was late, as usual, but everyone waited with baited breath, because it promised much.
And so it came to pass, the Freeloader finally arrived, and oh what gifts it brought. The ability to de-zone everyone's Gamecubes. Finally, an easy (and cheap) way for anyone in the world to play games from anywhere else in the world. It was welcomed with open arms.
Datel, after many delays, have now released their de-zoning disc. Twice. The f...-

by ArchivesDescribing the greatness of Goldeneye isn't the easiest task in the world. If you were to show it to a gamer who has recently been showered with PC First Person Shooters such as Far Cry, then they'd scoff at the low-polygon landscapes, the poor digitised textures of Robbie Coltrane and the frame rate equivalent to the IQ of a table leg. They'd be missing the point though, as levels such as "Surface" are the forebears to Far Cry's grand vistas.
Which leads us nicely into one of the reaso...-

by ArchivesAs a first visit to any kind of games show, it was going to be very interesting to see what all the fuss was about. I remember reading about the Tokyo Game Show among other shows in magazines years back and having a sense of delight and amazement. Did you ever dream of going to a game show in Japan? I'm sure it's something most avid gamers can associate with. On Sunday the 28th of September, my wife and I headed towards Makuhari messe from western Tokyo, a journey of 2 hours. When we finally ...
