Well, it's not that tall, but it's a nice taster for whats to come I guess.

        Pretty easy to find too.

I'm taking it really slow and exploring and experimenting with what's on offer at 30 hours (20% in). So yes, it's just a bit large.

The shocking thing is of course is that like Spatial earlier stated, there are no doubt loads of parts which I've not encountered or picked up on yet. I've by no means absorbed everything I could have at the moment, however as it stands a fifth of this game is the size of a large(ish) RPG.

I have half of the overall map to explore, and a load of side-missions to properly master for example (whereas I've only briefly played most).

Right... I've got to take CJ's psycho bitch girlfriend out again (the one from the farm who gets stroppy whenever I take her to a city, and only ever wants to eat her face off).

Good point Concept. If Deus Ex was an "RPG" as every magazine seemed to claim, then surely this is too. More so in some ways.

This is definitely a role-playing game. It's just less in your face, than say Fable for example.

I'm playing the role of CJ, and the character customisation aspect, levelling up, and various options reflect that. The reason San Andreas succeeds in this respect from my point of view is that these mechanics are integrated under the surface.

They don't bombard you... The information can more or less be processed within the space of the gameworld without you necessarily having to dive in and out of various menus (bar the map of course).

I'd say as an organic whole, the game is a fusion of genres merged and melded together within a subtle RPG framework. I'm still slightly baffled by some people saying this is little more than an add on to Vice City.

Most of those must have only played the game for a few hours, because the more you get into it, the more you find out that it's much, much more.

This girlfriend element is hilarious. Helena (the girl who my CJ is dating a the moment) phones him up out of the blue wanting to be taken out. So with my sex appeal stat high I drive over to the farm, only to discover she won't be seen dead with CJ because his muscles are too big.

So much for using flowers as a gift to recompensate. Now I've got to recustomise his appearance or face being chucked again.

I think next date she'll be saying hello to a bullet in the head for being awkward.

I'm thinking of picking up the plane outside of San Fierro on the hills and going on a date with her inside it, and then bailing so she can plummet thousands of feet to her doom.

What do you reckon? Too evil?

Picked this up yesterday and have taken tomorrow of work to get proper stuck in. Had to go out last night so only a couple of hours play so far, had to restart though due to a sound FX bug that messed up the dialogue (sounded like an old ZX Spectrum loading) - anybody else had that? It was just before the spay paint tag mission?

Anyways, decided to just drive as far as I could across the map - damn this place is big! Looking forward to the RPG element to kick in and going to the shelf and dusting off my AK!!!

As someone earlier has said Ive just left Las Santos, and i havent experienced half the things alot of people here have, i think im gonna have to chill witht he missions for a while and just experience the city.

Also wheres this building with the parachute you mention?

Slight spoiler: I know from a trailer that parachuting seem to take place in a mission. However, I also think it's possible to base jump from skyscrapers. I think that might be what Lazychu is referring to.

There is apparently a building you can get into in the first section that has a parachute, but I sure as hell can't find it!

*Spoiler* It's in Downtown LS,in between the Ammunation and the highway. It's oval shaped on the map. Just enter it at the yellow arrow as usual and you'll appear on the roof. You can get a bike up there too.

                              Oh. My. God.

That's a fantastic idea. I'm still mean to go back and woo her, she didn't like my superhero physique so I stopped going to the gym. I then met another girl in SF (Michelle the mechanic) who'll only go out with me if I look like Barry White so redneck shooty girl will just have to wait...
