    Zelda : The Minish Cap

Well, as I posted in the General Gaming folder, thanks to my new best friend I got a copy this evening

I've only had a quick 30 minute go so far, but it really is brilliant stuff.

The graphics are influenced by A Link To The Past, and have been updated in many respects. It works wonderfully on the GBA screen. The colours and images are familiar straight away to anyone who's a fan of LTTP - and I'm sure there are a fair few out there

Even the music and sound effects are typical Zelda, from the floaty profile screen music, through to the sound effects and the characters shouts when you first talk to them. Its so nostalgic that when you get to Hyrule Field you won't be able to stop yourself humming along with the theme tune.

The menu / map and interface is still done in the now obligatory OOT style too.

As I'm not far in, I can't comment on the storyline yet. Basically its a typical Zelda affair, with Zelda getting herself into peril and you being given a sword and (tiny) shield to go and save the day. At least this time they've given an explanation as to why they've decided to send a young child into mortal danger

My advice, go and get it tommorow by hastling any store you can to give it to you a day or two early. This is one of the games your GBA was made for.

A little question: Does the Minish Cap feature a large "overworld", you know, like that huge field from Ocarina of Time or the big, green map from A link to the past? Or is it a more maze-like structure to the "main map" such as in Majora's Mask?

From what I've seen of the map screen ( only briefly mind you as you're given a map of Hyrule at the start ), its split into square areas that are all connected

How does this compare to the Oracle games? I loved those suckers, even if no other fecker did.

Simplygames dispatched my copy today so I should hopefully have it by tomorrow. I intend to complete The Minish Cap because out of the last three Zelda games I bought I only managed to complete Wind Waker, Oracle of Seasons and Link to the Past still remain unfinished.

I've only briefly played those but its not far off. Maybe its the fact that its on the GB that gives it that `familiar` feel

I'm absolutely loving this game so far, I'm only just past the 2nd dungeon but I love it! Capcom have done a sterling job on it. The sound and graphical touches are very OoT and WW in comparison. It's got classic Zelda tunes and a few little WW grahical flourishes. Very nice, very cool game.

My copy arrived from simplygames this morning and although I have only had a very brief play of it it is utterly charming. The vibrant crystal clear graphics (on the SP at least), the music, the suprising amount of humour so early on. I cannnot wait to get stuck into it tonight.

Just completed the first dungeon, and well I'm in love too. It tastes like a classic, too bad it will be overlooked because of the big guns struggling in another league (well GTA SA is good, too ).

It seems really creative, with a lot of secrets, and the gameplay offers tons of possibilities. In less than one hour I've encountered a lot of original situations. I haven't played any Capcom Zelda on the GB, so it reminds me of A Link To The Past, mostly. But gameplay-wise it seems to go one step further, because it develops the already perfect mecanisms of the franchise.

The very first object you find is really good, and seems really useful (it has at least three functions...)

If you want something else than Halo 2 or whatever, this game could fuel your 'tendo fanboyism. Give it love, it will give you back !

I echo the sentiments in this thread, its an absolutely wonderful game...i've been utterly engrossed over the last couple of days.

The opening dungeon alone was superb, defo one of the most wonderful moments from the entire Zelda series in my mind. The visuals and art direction are stunning too. Kudos Flagship.

I'm loving running round hoovering up stuff and spitting it out again, and flinging myself about with the stretchy toadstools. Wicked stuff!

Okay... Just bought my copy. Only seen the beginning more or less. It starts off quite similar to Chrono Trigger don't you think...? With the festival, Zelda quickly dashing around and all. Very charming... Love the humour... And Deku Scrubs! (They we?re sadly missed from WW)

Anyway... To early into the game to start comparing it to LTTP, but I definitely like what I?ve seen so far.
