To be blunt. No it isn't.

But put it together with a number of other games, viewed as a total... then yes, a PS2 is worth a purchase.

I thought it'd be essential to near everyone here in this day and age?

      No dog tag collecting then?
No, but there are those wee green frogs to find.

        Heh.

The actual living little frogs in the grass? Or somthing like that strange toy green frog that i just found perched ontop of a tree stump?

I tried shooting it, but it just made some gargling noise, and didnt drop down. What are they for?

Yeah, that's them. You need to find them all to unlock something extra I think. Shooting some of them will alert guards though!, so be careful.

I had Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty when that was first out, and I enjoyed that. Bearing in mind though I had no other games to play at the time. I bought the remake of Metal Gear Solid on the GC, almost finished that, but then for some reason stopped right at the end. But, enjoyed that again too.

Is it worth getting a PS2 for? What's the rough lifespan of one play through?
is any one game worth buying a system for? if you think it is and you've enjoyed previous Metal Gear's then yeah go for it, just don't expect a revolution.

IMO, MGS 3 and the upcoming Devil May Cry 3 are worth gettng a PS2 for. Then you have Tekken 5 aswell!! DMC 3 is out in 2 weeks so I think a PS2 is worth getting for these games!!

Christ... I bought a Game cube JUST for Resi 4 and have opened up so many new possible games to get!!

It's one of the best games on the system, more importantly it's full of new ideas and standout moments that set it apart from other games being released today. Maybe the camera frustrations people have mentioned here might put you off, I dunno really.

Can you think of a few other PS2 titles you'd like? If I was buying one today I'd probably go for MGS3, Gradius V, Ridge Racer V and Ico. If not.... well I'd suggest you leave it and just stick to whatever consoles you already have.

Played it for the first time today, and have to say, WHAT A GAME!!!

when i first got dropped in to the jungle, all i heard was birds chirping away to the left side of me and i thought it was the neighbours or something.

i then put the volume on mute, and it goes and all this was in stereo output! bloddy amazing sound!

I'm confused. Is that a good or bad thing?

The first time Snake's belly rumbled, I thought it was a tiger or something growling that was nearby!

I got my copy today and have been playing it pretty much all afternoon. Just got to the top of the mountains.

Really enjoying it although the camera is slightly annoying.

                            The

Boss battle against The End was a pain until I figured out how to easily track him

Did you sell your ps2 then?

Anyway, I thought this was a great game, it took me 20 hours to complete it.
