Beware UK importers: The Cube version of the game erases PAL memory cards, you can only save on a JAP Cube, a la Mr Driller Drill Land.

Really pissed about this, means I won't be able to unlock anything

Yep, discovered this myself this morning -- I had a whole mem card full of Jap saves from other shooters and Soul Calibur, and it's wiped it clean.

Man, that sucks. I always use a 'test' memory card when importing, test to see what the game does to that card and other saves on it before saving for real, just to make sure. I'm wise to that nowadays after getting my Winning Eleven card (full of thousands of translated player names and cups) wiped by Mr Driller.

Anyway, from what I've played it's very nice, I will get back to writing impressions after a heavy session. If I can't save, it means I'll just have to play it for hours at a time, which sounds good to me

Yep. Both Japanese versions so far (and I imagine #3 coming out shortly).

The DC version had slowdown (which you can irradicate with an Overclocked DC) but it never jerked around with a funny varying frame rate.

How do you overclock a DC?

There is a guy in the US who can do it, If you read around the various DC sites you would have seen it as its been a hot topic for the last few months.

but the benefits are questionable. Besides, the slow down in Chaos Field is part of the gameplay

The overclock has changed since that article and can now be safely clocked at 276mhz.

Finally i can play this game as i intended (having got a modded cube).Had to use freeloader before but it would not save and erased all my other saves.So did not really play it that much

I have not got the dreamcast version so i cannot really compare it.

Thing i did notice is your main ship is much bigger than i am used to in these types of shooters.And also unlike psyvarier and cave shooters there is not a small hit box

There is a arcade and original version.Original version seems to have a few changes like you encounter a few smaller ships before the big ship.

Its a very good game but the controls do not seem as tight as i would like but trying to get the hit meter up is very addictive also when you learn the timing of the bosses and you manage to get a lock on to ALL projectiles its very satisfying.

I agree the music is great
