Indeed you will. I haven't played it (I hate PA), but I've been watching the Mikami videos off IGN. Man, this game's relentless! Chainsaw dude is very much present.

I always thought the scenes in the videos were the beginning of the game... maybe not

Ive encountered the Chainsaw guy in another area, but not the main village.

Im really enjoying the game, but i dont find it scary or unnerving atm. If anything i look forward to the next wave of nutters

I've completed the first section a few times and you need to go somewhere to trigger the nutter chainsaw guy. I'm absolutely pants at this but it's brilliant. I've just completed the first chapter with a Deaths score almost as high as my Hit Ratio (well not that bad!!) I need to take some prozac to keep my shooting thumb steady. It'll take me a year to complete but what a great year in prospect.

I've been restarting if I die, no continues. Not that Capom normally take deaths into account (they never have in the past AFAIK). I have found there to be a lot of ammo, tbh. Tons of it. But then, I am used to being extemely conservative with ammo from the earlier games

Make sure you get a kick in, if you can - it really does deplete the enemy's health.

That bit made me **** my pants, especially when you go down into that pit. I just wanted to climb in one of those metal boxes and wait for them to go away >_<

My first encounter with the chainsaw guy was at the start of chapter 1-3 (I think)

I didn't meet up with him in the village at the start as I trigured a different mob attack.

I want to be at home playing htis and not at work wishing I was at home......

                I have played it on a 14" 4.3 portable

There are borders there, it looks like it would if you were watching a DVD on it.

The sooner this is on the Main TV the better

It'll be in letterbox format, like the presentation of a movie on DVD.

Got mine yesterday - Fantastic. Played all night up till I killed the Lake Beast - This game is awesome.

If you've got a widescreen TV stick it in ZOOM mode if you have one and you can play full screen - doesn't seem to degrade the picture at all.

Gotta go work now - grrrrrrr.

Concerning how ?scary? Resident Evil 4 is? I felt the game played trauma with my emotions. Unlike, say Remake or Silent Hill where there is a solid basis of what type of fear you will experience, RE4 will always keep you guessing.

For example during the first few sections the feelings of tension was caused by a strange exhilaration? a rush, a feeling of ?kill or be killed?. And then.,.. suddenly when there isnt anyone around, your nerves start to feel uneasy as you know.. YOU KNOW that something is going to happen?

Later though, there are some very Silent Hill moments where you will be considerably disturbed. *wants to type so much more!!*

Some of the later sections? oh my goodness?.

And I agree about the music, really helps to add to the atmosphere. I also love the sound effects and the different sort of moans, groans and speech coming from the foes.

Re-playing this on Professional today. Cant wait!

Aye, totally. It's not really scary in the way that the originals had that shock value of a zombie or hunter bursting in through a window, but the forbidding scenary and enemy voices (especially the ****ing monks chanting X_X), it's just really unnerving and unlike the original Resi's where I'd just run my nuts off from place to place I have to take it really slowly and snipe the bastards from long range because getting close to them gives me the ****s :/

Another brilliant thing is that the music stops only when you've killed those that have seen you; imagine my horror when I ran around a corner thinking the area was secure only to run into 5 of the maniacs!

On chapter 3-1 now, thanks to the crazy, stolen from Ocarina of Time minigame I'm taking longer than everyone else but I really don't care. I don't want it to end, but I'm already dreading that it will soon enough Love the way the game plays with you by draining all your ammo and health in encounters and just when you think it's all over, you run into a merchant or several boxes of ammo. Brilliant pacing.

Stunning simply stunning! Got to just after the lake beast last night and felt exhilarated, this game is above all Fun. I love the way once you get used to it how 'hard' you feel and while initial meetings with the villagers made you s*** yourself after a while you start running up to them and telling them about their business!! Thats not to say I ain't scared though!

I do think theres quite a big silent hill influence particularly with the music, i think thats a good think as i always found silent hill to be far more threatening than the old resi's...and the chainsaw guy my other half nearly had a heart attack when i met my maker!

Awesome, just wish I was at home now.

BTW i dunno if its my tv (its a crt Wega) but i find zooming it to full 16:9 does affect the quality of the picture slightly, I put it on Smart where you get letter box but not as pronounced as in widescreen.

I'm assuming (hoping) that like in previous Resident Evils there are multiple endings?

What a stunning game. Somehow it kept throwing so many new ideas into the recipe so it never once... not ONCE became mundane or boring.

                              Final results

                              Hit Ratio: 71%
                              Enemies Killed: 888
Number of times killed: 43 (heh)
                              Clear Time: 19hours - 47mins - 32sec

                              Number of times saved: 082

                              Been awarded with the following?

?Now you can buy an infinite launcher and a Matilda from the Merchant!?

                              and? wow!

More play modes are now available!

Assignment Ada ? starts with hearing Whesker on the radio and then you get to control Ada?

The Mercenaries - this is cool. You can unlock more characters to control by scoring high points. After choosing the character you wish to be you need to choose one of four locations. And then you are given a mission ? eg ?Eliminate as many Ganados as you can before your evac chopper arrives!?

Pretty awesome if you ask me
I just purchased the infinite launcher last night. A million!!

Adam, did you think the ending crept up a little to quick? You think it was too easy?

Anyone know that guy, when you fall down the pit, you have to quick time to avoid the spikes?. You follow the sewers path right to the end. Your being followed by a boss who chases you. Now, you obviously know that you push over the bottles to 'freeze' him. However, I never managed to kill him on my first play through. What I did this time was to freeze him, switch to my infinite launcher and let loose. He gives you a rare treasure!

Same goes with the large sac with all those wasp things.

Leon holds the infinte launcher differently to his regular launcher too. Nice touch.

Adam: Number of times killed: 0 ( whenever I died I would load up my game rather than continue, was wondering if you were rewarded for a no continue use! I saved more than you though, think I was upto 100 on 1st play.
