Play the game chads, the more you know the less impact it has, don't answer his questions people.

Its not pointless at all - the amount of damage you do to them is dependant on where you hit them and also the way they react is (meaning you can do different follow up moves). It also helps greatly to knock people down when fighting multiple enemies at once.

I have been in no instances of the game so far where villages continue to spawn - there are always a fixed number of them.

Jibber: Too late . I suppose if Chad is asking them there are probably a load of other people wanting to know the answers too.

If Im trying to save ammo I might shoot one in the foot then go kick or knife him. Also shooting them in the foot over a bridge sends them falling over the side to their death, its not a pointless feature by any means. Glad to see the head-shots back again, quite amusing to blast a head off and watch the corpse still wandering towards you. I dont think the villagers spawn as such, Im sure they kinda 'appear' sometimes though, Ill go into a house where nothing was around me outside, once inside the house they come through the windows.

I'm not going out of my way to be contraversial, and your sarcasm isn't appreciated.

As for it being/not being 'Survival Horror', my point was that I don't find it 'horrific', i.e. scary at all. I don't find it scary because there's too much raw power available to you in terms of weaponry and (I find) too much ammo, and therefore emphasis on combat. Leon was also in Resi 2: the most action-packed of the series to date (until this one) and the one I liked the least.

Right, done with this thread now. Carry on enjoying the game

Horror is in the eye of the beholder, though: my mate nearly pissed himself playing Thief II because of the atmosphere - he also couldn't play Doom III late at night because of the 'shock' value.

Needless to say I laughed long and hard in his fey little face. Personally, I've never found a survival horror game even remotely scary. The only thing that's ever scared me in a Resi game is the thought of being killed and having to backtrack tediously.

Thats how I feel at the moment about this Treble, its just not scary at all which was one of the things I was hoping for. I recall my utter disappointment when Dino Crisis went from being a tense survival horror game to basically a fun arcade game in the sequel, it totally ruined it. This is by no means to that extent and the game is still great, but at no point do I feel unsettled by this because the action comes too thick and fast and the plentiful amount of ammo and weaponry at my disposal. These games are always at their best when you are low on health, with only a few bullets left in your pea-shooter of a gun, knowing that at any time something could happen unexpectedly which would mean your demise. SH is very good at that, and Resi used to be, but this is a change of direction and I just find it baffling how people are claiming it to be so scary. Its like we arent playing the same game at times.

              Anyways just beat the

water boss, and what a damn good boss fight it was too, died about three times before I worked out what to do though.

I don?t find it scary but I do find it incredibly tense due to the pacing. I haven?t got on with any previous Resident Evil game so maybe the increased action element suits me. I?m at the end of 1-3 and really enjoying the experience so far. Long may it continue.

It aint scary, its intreguing, we've had this discussion before. How anyone can find a computer game scary is baffling. Admitedly I was fumbling through my controls as I was being pursued by the Chainsaw dude, and was relieved when he swiped and missed on no less than three separate occasions, but at no point did I get scared. But then what is scared? It must be a relative thing.

Anyways, this game feels like a version of Shenmue, but with gun and zombies, something about its level of immersion and tunnel vision.

Maybe not pointless, but sometimes a little tedious after 300+ kills, but then it becomes about tactics I guess.

They don't constantly spawn, I think there is a set amount of enemies. Often you think "**** he just appeared out of nowhere behind me" but thats because you forgot to knock a ladder down or barricade a window/door. Quite often I get smacked up cos I forget I'm stood near a ladder, they've jumped down/climbed up and blindsided me. Thats what makes this game hard as well, you aren't used to this much immersion and realism in places. You can be sure, if you haven't found a way to stop them, they will find you...

Just a quick mention of how brilliant it is when someone chainsaws your head off for the first time, only happened to me last night and it was such a freaky experience. I seen her coming, I was trying to reload, then she just lunged for me and there was nothing I could do!

Personally, I get more of vibe of anticipation rather than fear; an anticipation that you KNOW something is going to happen, but you don't know what. I did however, jump a couple times early on in the game when...

I accidentally walked into a bear trap.

I don't find the game scary either, and at times miss the feeling of being trapped.

Howerver, I'm still loving RES 4 More tense and exciting than spooky.

That makes me jump outta my skin, cos you can't see them everytime and everytime you wonder what has just got you...

I am on chapter 2-3 just about to

                              Ride the ski lift

. I am wondering if I should backtrack and take the second path too. I have around 70000 in cash and want to buy some new stuff as soon as I can (larger case, better shotgun and the semi auto rifle etc)

Wow, just absolutely crapped it at one point on 2-3.

Riding down the ski-lift for the first time, I see a guy on the left so rifle him in the head then just stand waiting, and looking around and then suddenly I hear a noise, turn round and see this axe flying straight by my head. Next thing I knew, there were 3 or 4 guys all throwing axes at me and I died!

Ah good times, then the boss after that was just brilliant fun! You think hes dead, then oh no, wait a minute, he's mutated!! Ahhh!
