Funny you should bring this topic back because I have finished Shadow of the Colossus a few weeks ago and since then it is back to dusting off Dante's boots and cause a party in DMD mode, again.

I am trying so hard to get the Normal mode missions from A rank to S rank and on Hard it is mostly a few S ranks, 12 A ranks and the rest are B ranks. On the DMD mode, I am still on mission 9 (since July this year) because Nevan is still causing me problems - I want to finish her nice and easy - a few hits doesn't bother me but when she goes mad in the last quarter, my health falls flat on its face.

Any videos/tips for Nevan (mission 9) on DMD mode? A lot of people say that Cerberus and A&R are the hardest bosses to overcome yet I can also blow them over in a posh-gentleman manner whereas Nevan is just a ridiculous bitch!

:EDIT: As much as I absolutely love SotC, Devil May Cry 3 will always be my game of the year because the game has a lot of love and appreciation from me and many others.

I got past Nevan by learning how to use Royal Guard, parrying her 'become tired' move (3 times on DMD) and dodging everything else. She leaves herself wide open after trying to snog you (oo-err) which is great for a release! (double oo-err)

      As I said elsewhere I just can't pick a GOTY. DMC3=colossus=snake eater.

Stopped playing a while ago due to various time constraints. However, know seems about the right time to go back and brush up on those DMD levels on my new telly

I still play DMD on a daily basis.

Just exactly when is the SE gonna be released?

It's happened to all of us. Try to locate a video of someone fighting him on a much harder difficulty. Those helped me no end.

Without going into the kind of detail that lets you kill this bitch off without having to use a weapon the best thing to do when the axe swings is to either roll dodge or jump it and then attack, rinse and repeat.

Like most elements of this beautiful game, its all about your timing.

Yesterday's posts here encouraged me to try again on mission 15 DMD. Death, death, death, death ad infinitum. Then I got back into the mindset of considering it as training, and approached the fallen without wanting to kill them, just trying to block everything they have. Eventually I started mixing releases with my blocks, and succeeded in killing one of them in a single hit! I'm still not good enough with the blocking to survive all 3, but it's enough to make me keep trying.

I killed Nevan on DMD mode yesterday but my health was well under the halfway mark and got a disappointing A rank for doing so. I try so blooming hard at that level and I always feel like bitch-slapping Nevan. Hard.

Does Venom or anybody else have any tips - I want to use swordmaster on her not the Royal Guard method because I always mistime the blocks!

Breakthrough!! I got past those stupid Fallen - wiped out the first two at the same time, so they didn't get a chance to DT and I had no probs with the 3rd one on his own.

Only it all fell apart when I got to the little rooms with the sealed doors you have to fight a path through - those bloody chess pieces!! Can anyone clarify what the bishop pieces are doing when they give off the green aura? I have a horrible feeling they are healing the other chess pieces nearby - in which case I am f*&ked.

edit - wooo! mission cleared! only for me to discover it was actually mission 14 and I'm not as far through as I hoped ><

Ha, I'd like to see him taking so much time to sheath his sword when he's got reapers flying at him from all directions!

I have been re-doing hard mode (again!) and I truely think that the bosses get better but the actual levels with the annoying red birds, chess pieces and floating starfishes are letting the game down for me - they are simply unpredictable and very difficult to avoid getting damaged whilst using the Swordmaster (and Gunslinger) style and I don't like using Royal-guard because I am an impatience man with Dante: Trickster is a bit naff too.

What is ironic though; on mission 19 - somehow I went back into the castle and spent half hour fighting every single demon in each room and came to a conclusion to why the hell am I in the castle - I didn't know what to do!

All this time it was that golden statue in the room of mirrors and I honestly thought that could have been another piece of background - could Capcom have made it a bit easier to realise(?)

I also dislike Sparda (The Blob anybody?) because it is an easy battle and a bit of a downer because I just wanted to fight Sparda not some made-up blob with dayglo armour(!)

I think I will give DMC3 a rest for a while so that I can get into the Xbox 360 this Friday and hopefully if DMC3: Special Edition comes out in the US - I will get back in Dante's, or should I say - Vergil's world.

I loved the first 7 missions (the Castle) leading all the way up to Vergil but I felt that it went steadily downhill from that mission but the excellent bosses more or less kept me going. Maybe I should stop messing about in the Castle and move on to the later missions to practise.

Either way, I love this game.

You need to have the little enemies around so you can show off the moves! Anyway, the 'unpredictable' thing has been covered many many times, there's nothing unpredictable about any of it.. every seemingly impossible situation to me was beatable by chilling out a little and paying attention.
