because I presumed that the controls were my biggest bugbear, and that custom levels on Live would be fun.

      so, they fixed the controls.

and now I notice that everything else is TERRIBLE. truly. top-to-bottom terrible, in a way so that if you wanted to change it to make it worse, you couldn't.

the graphics are pants. the levels are amazingly contrived, dull and linear. no attempt at all has been made to balance the weapons, which all feel amazingly weak and unsatisfying, which is made even worse by the nasty-arsed sound effects. the only satisfying gun (the big pistol which sets people on fire) brings the SAME death scream from the victim EVERY time, so using it just makes me cringe. the AI of enemies is still terrible, and they STILL do moves that the player can't. can break 5% of windows but mysteriously most of them remain intact no matter what. can blow up doors, but not IDENTICAL ONES which you're not meant to blow through. the voice acting is bizarre, blatantly english people slipping between accents effortlessly. etc etc.

I could go on, but almost every other fps ever created does every single thing you can think of better than TS does it. it's just a bad, bad game.

Sorry, but whatever you want to say about the game- the graphics are fantastic. Or at least, the graphics on the Xbox version are fantastic. The character models are very detailed, and all of the textures look great.

Pretty much all of the problems you've highlighted certainly aren't unique to Future Perfect though, they're just common 'a limit to what you can do' game problems. I think we've been playing games for long enough now to know that they're not always realistic, so it's a shame you can't overlook these like you would with any other game.

Yeah, they could have allowed you to jump.

what have you been doing for the last 7 years? none of those flaws are in even bog-standard, average current-gen FPS games. this game is not even on a par with them.

and at the very least, the visuals are simplistic and poor. textures are terrible, all modelling is low-poly and absolutely nothing has a shadow! it runs smoothly on an xbox, yes. so should a game with a level of detail which is poor even if you consider it's a PS2 game.

Name one console game that let's you blow up every door, even the doors you're not supposed to. I can't remember if Red Faction let you do this, but even that had a limit to what you could do. And even then, that's one game.

99% of games let you blow up ALL DOORS or NO DOORS. that's a miniscule flaw anyway compared to the complete, fundamental lack of anything but the most basic, unbalanced fps imaginable to be found here.

So, in terms of console FPS, what do you consider to be the genre leaders?

Halo (1 for single player and 2 for multi), and HL2 (I don't distinguish between console and pc, a game is a game). or was that answer too obvious?

So, like B3 the EA servers have been playing up.

So, bearing in mind I have no interest in the single player (but devour online console FPSs with a passion) is it worth getting? I mean, however good the game (I liked Timesplitters 2, even if it was a bit vapid), if you can't play a stable game there is no point playing. Will it tempt me off Halo 2?

You can have a stable game, and stay in that "room" by clicking on rematch at the end, but the number of times that I have seen "Host has been lost" and "You have been kicked" messages over the weekend means it is very hit and miss online.

C'mon you can't be serious, they are decent at best and don't stand up to majority of recent games.
