Those who are looking for partners online gimme a PM and I'll invite you to the NTSC squad. A few of you I already need to add which I'll do tonight

Chaos Theory really is fantastic in all modes. I'm so glad because as far as I'm concerned Pandora Tomorrow is **** in comparison.

I've got the Xbox version running now, and there doesn't appear to be an option in the control configuration screen. Only the choice to invert the look controls (left/right), vibration on/off, and alter the aiming sensitivity.

Because Ubisoft have it in for you and secretly sell 'We hate Crisp_Rapper' T-shirts on their website.

great game but did anyone else feel the need to rush out and buy some menthol chewing gum after playing through the first few levels

I've only played the first few levels, but I found the new advertising streak, and patriotic Sam Fisher to be a bit nauseating.

Before he was cold, calculating and soulless, which I kind of preferred. Although I still like the dubious morality Ubisoft place on Third Echelon's actions by sanctioning what effectively amounts to a hired assassin. In other stealth spy games, there's usually a wooly morality we're wrapped in, but Splinter Cell makes no bones that you're playing as a killer hired by a Government that has no qualms about killing those in its way.

Moving away from characteration and to the game... it's fantastic. Far less frustrating than the first two games in single-player, far more diverse and littered with some great set-pieces.

However, I'm only three levels in at this point.

I just had some bad guy yell "Say hello to my little friend" at me before he proceeded to kill me with one shot

Is anyone else having massive long waits to get some bastard players when you fire up an open lobby? Myself and my friend have sat for 15+ minutes on occasion. Optimatch seems to result in Septics kicking us after being Mercenaries

I can't believe they didn't fix that Spy-Loving Twat inbalance.

loving it. Like three games in one. The SP, MP & co-op all are excellent. Very steep learning curve though on the map learning though. Been playing Aquarius for three nights and still learning stuff.

The co-op mode is excellent. Really different way of playing online. Had one night of dropping lke hell, now seems stable.

Just started on this now. Glad to see the XB version has all of the eye candy the PC version does, just a touch lower res.

Seems to me like the series has really clicked with this one. The control is perfect, the visuals unmatched - a perfect marriage of technology and art, and the sound is stunning. Loving the game too!

Haven't played it online yet, too engrossed in single player. Top job Ubi, too bad you screwed up Prince of Persia but this certainly goes a long way to make up for it.

Did anyone else notice how much younger Sam looks now though? He's lost a good 10 years at least.

I think this one features the best Single Player mode yet, actually. It definately seems easier, and I'm getting a lot less frustrated with it.

You're right, Sam does seem to be a little younger, and far more willing to engage in stupid banter with the members of his team than before. I remember in one of the last games him getting pissy about too many people talking. If "if Lambert can say it, let him do the talking".

Or is that MGS I'm thinking of?

At any rate, he's definately lightened up, which I think detracts from his character. I know it's really against the grain at the moment, but I prefer the characters under my control not to have too much in the way of 'personality', but thats just personal preference.

Yeah I'd agree the game is easier but does let the player play more, less trial and error and reloading. Just a great immersive experience. The weapons menu is much better now and they've really honed the Splinter experience.

Isn't Sam Fisher supposed to be 48 years old?

Something like that. Trouble is, in Chaos Theory, he looks about 38...

I prefer his character in the first two games to be honest... but it's only a small problem. After being mildly frustrated at times in Snake Eater, I'm finding Chaos Theory's single-player approach much more imaginative and original in terms of the options/set-up/amount of things you're able to do.

It's the Splinter Cell I've hoped for. The experience without, at last, teeth grinding frustration.

Wouldn't surprise me if they've made him look different to be more like how they want him to look the film that's due out next year. There's a teaser for the movie on the disc.

It won't be the same without Michael Ironside though. :/
