I must admit that thought had not crossed my mind either... you learn something new everyday.

I am sure I have missed other things as well. I hope the strategy guide gives me some useful hints (when it arrives... I only ordered it today... from America).

I am sure if I waded through all the useful stuff at the Strategy Guide publishers forum I could find out stuff to my advantage. I've been a member there since I bought Disgaea (bought the guide for that and also Phantom Brave and SMT: Nocturne from them).

      - there's always something you never think of as there is so much to the Nippon Ichi games hidden away waiting to be discovered.

Ah yes the Doublejump books forums - be wary though they're not always careful with the spoilers: http://www.doublejumpbooks.com/yabbse/index.php

I wonder what I missed in my many, many hours on Disgaea!

I never realised you could stack more than one character to throw about in Disgaea until about 40 odd hours in, it was an item world saviour once I read about it.

I haven't tried this in MK yet.

            Neither have I

Apparently there's something you can do in the hub world that unlocks something (according to the in-game instructions) but I haven't found it yet.

I came across a couple of problems (not sure if I was doing something wrong though). I unlocked all the extra areas and defeated all the enemies and failed to fulfil the conditions to clear the map. On another I needed to throw enemies to unlock areas and couldn't lift them.

Also can you create more than 9 characters? Or does this become available after a few chapters?

You get points for destroying items on the map too - so you'll need to destroy them. I did think it ended when all enemies were dead, I must have been mistaken. You can only lift enemies if they and you have no weapon equiped, if the enemy is the key, just kill it.

I didn't know there was a limit on chars earlier on, I never hit it. The maximum number of characters you can create is 115, so yes it must change in later chapters.

There was nothing at all left on the map I could not clear. I detroyed everything and there were no extensions.

I have only been able to create my initial 9 characters, am I missing something? After your first character they have to be confined to one of the eight objects on the map. Is there a way to get more objects to use?

The weapon thing could be a bit of a pain if you can't steal it... I fortunately have two of them!

You have to summon more objects onto the map via Zetta to confine to (d-pad left and right flicks between different types on the summon)..

Can't say I've ever had that issue on a map - there's always been enough points for me. What map was it?

It was probably the first in Chapter 2. I was repeating some maps to level up some of my lesser characters.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to give the summoning a try tonight.

Is there much to do when you have finished the game?
Disagea i thought there was plenty to do after you completed the main story. But in phantom brave i felt it was very limitied

I am still on Chapter 2 after 9 hours play!!! I was getting my characters to a minimum of Lvl 4 (may improve on that tonight). I created a building using a Lvl 4 Witch who was well down on HP and later reincarnated her with a resulting much stronger set of stats. Almost as good as my main Witch.

I mostly used Map 1-1 though it did take a while getting some up to Lvl 7. Having now spent some cash on items and using decent ones picked up, my reincarnated Witch has INT of about 130 which is probably adequate for the moment. All I need do now is somehow get here Fire and Wind magic...

I've had four amazing encounters post-main-story. I can't say that there's as much as there is in the main game, but there's enough there to keep you interested in developing your team if you want to. I did two cycles of Disgaea and I'd say there's at least as much so far, but I didn't go beyond 100 hours in Disgaea and I didn't play Phantom Brave at all.

I put in 481 hours initially on Diagaea. Put in another 30 hours recently and finished my 3rd Cycle for a repeat ending typically. Transmigrated my good Mage, Etna (up to Lvl 7000) and Laharl (on Lvl 1000 for the first time). I got a fair way through Phantom Brave and then got stuck. I got La Pucelle Tactics just after getting Disgaea so that didn't really get a look in. At least I got the American Disgaea on DVD... pre-owned from VG+.

I think I will be trying some more levelling tonight somehow.

What sort of character mix do people have?

I think I went a little over the top on magic...

                              Main Character...

Witch - Wind Magic + Flare Sphere

                              Others

                              Apprentice
Apprentice (no weapon, used for picking up items)
Witch - Ice Magic (eventually re-incarnated got to Lvl 4 with low HP then used for a building... pretty good stats now helped by items)
                              Witch - Ice Magic
                              Sorceress - Fire Magic
Healer - also has Flare Sphere
                              Pickpocket
                              Pickpocket
Corn Man (or whatever) - Ice Magic

I seem to have managed to get rather too much Ice Magic. For Fire I did a save before creation and then had to reload once before I got fire. Should have done the same earlier.

I have no idea how you specifiy specific types of magic, and none of my guys stay one class for too long (I like to cycle through different types to get the bonuses), so I tend to classify them by the weapon they use. I have the following mix -

                                Sword guy.
                                Dagger guy.
                                Syringe/book guy.
Hammer/rifle guy (I don't know how that happened).
                                Staff/book guy.
                                Spear/rapier guy.
                                Box guy.
                                Drum guy.
                                Katana/fishing rod guy.
In fact, pretty much a guy for every weapon type, with some doubling up.

Actually, this list is totally meaningless, now that I think about it.
