Anyone notice that this game is selling quite well on http://www.gameplay.com/ and www.play.com

we sold out of our copies in the shop, but thats down to me going "buy it buy it buy it"
we'll find out in this weeks MCV where it stands in the charts... i hope it makes it into the top 10!

I found it hard to source the PC version in the town I live, but I thought that was because the game hadn't been distributed properly. I'll be chuffed if this game sells the copies it deserves, as I feel the characters still have mileage in them for at least another sequel.

I'd love to, but I can't find anyone in this thread that has actually described the game! Of course the general opionion seems to be that it is an excellent game (L+R) problems aside, but what is it?

Played a demo for the pc very short but it gives you a idea

Controls and viewpoint a bit similar to resident evil icons at the top which show what you can interact with.To select a item to interact you have to hold the left mouse button and drag (which ever direction you drag in is the item you will select).Seems ok But then again the demo is so short.I hope it gets more interactive later though.

A paranormal murder mystery wrapped up inside traditional point 'n' click adventure conventions, whilst also mirroring Shenmue, The Sims, Shadow of Memories and ICO within certain areas relating to interaction, atmosphere and characterisation. Instead of playing as one character, you play as every central character to the story and see the events which unfold from different points of view. Think Eternal Darkness, but more cleverly constructed.

The Sunday Times got it right in their surprisingly decent review from the weekend. Farenheit is the 'interactive movie' (yes, I hate that term too) coming of age. You can also think of it as a choose your own adventure book transposed into videogaming format with more complexity given to the narrative choices you make. Many things have cause and effect further down the line when you make a seemingly inconsequential choice.

              Beautiful!

Thanks Concept, that was what I was looking for! Straight down to the shops with me at lunchtime then!

It's Shenmue basically, except there is no aimless walking through a large city. The game starts you off in your next location when you need to be there, and you jump between characters about every ten minutes or so. The game is shown largely in 24-style split screen, showing the different characters and what they are doing at exactly that point.

It works so well because the characters you play are at complete odds - one is a murderer, and one is the cop hunting you down, for example. The story is very dark and violent, but is played out in such a smart way that you really care about the characters and what goes on.

I don't want to say much because the game is a frequent surprise. It's one of the most inventive games in a long time, quite frankly.

                And what Concept said

I tried this after I finished it the first time,

expecting the game to go to the bad ending where the AI becomes all-powerful, but alas no. Instead you get all the same scenes in the underground base, just without Jade there. Instead Lucas goes with Carla alone to Wi****a to retrieve the Indigo Child from the AI before it can take her to the Chroma Source. I didn't play out the rest of it, but I expect he steals her back.

I'm still curious as to whether Carla always meets Lucas, even if you deliberately make a REALLY bad job of investigating the case, but then I have Radiata Stories to play through at the moment, so experimentation will ahve to wait.

Well, I just finished the game about an hour ago and I gotta say I wasn't pleased with the ending I got. What confused me though was the scene I got at the end of the game and the one under Chapters (the last one, epilogue) had the same dialoge but were in a different setting. Odd. Anyway, this game has one of the highest replay values of any game I've owned. As a person who rarely finishes a game, let alone completes a game and plays it again, I've gotta say it's just as good the second time around. The only games I've ever played through twice are Halo 1, KoToR and Fahrenheit in the 5 years I've owned my Xbox and 90 some games I have. Definetely on my top 10 list.

Suprisingly enough, it's the XBox version that seems to be hard to find in this area.
The PS2 game is everywhere, even the Asda I work at has it. But being a bit picky about 480p and all, I want the XBox one.

                          Your fingers'll regret it.

Good to see the game doing well. I'm on my second playthrough and find it just as compelling as first-time around.

Right just finished it, but I think I missed out on something - it took just under six hours! I looked under the bonus stuff and I never got to play the

                            Ice Skating comp

, though this is now unlocked. I think

sending away tyler before the end was a mistake

                            .

                            The ending I got was

Lucas sitting in the sun with Carla pregnant. The end battle was pretty lame, way too easy and nowhere near as good as the epic rooftop battle

I disagree that the second half of the game is much worse than the first, the game only loses it's fitting when

the AI reveals itself. This comes out of nowhere and isn't tied in particularly well. I realise there are 'hints' of it earlier in the game, and one more-obvious dream sequence later on, but a massive new eliement in the story is introduced and then killed off within the space of about ten minutes.

I actually liked how powerful Lucas became, but it probably happened a bit too early in the story. If the rooftop scene was right at the end it would have been a really exciting end, instead I felt pretty disappointed.

I still have questions about the game, it's one I plan on replaying for sure.

Sorry if anyone saw that spoiler

Farenheit has one of those clocks which doesn't really tell the whole truth. It took me 9-10 hours to complete it originally, although the clock said 7.

I also didn't mind the second half of the game (I particularly liked

being taken underground and being introduced to the 'invisibles'), though the jump from the subway to the base was probably too abrupt. There needed to be an extra hour in to let new plot elements (clans, AI, invisibles, Lucas being dead), settle down.

Oh, and I agree with you on the rooftop thoughts. Quantic Dream should have saved that battle/motion capture/environment for the very end of the game.

I'm playing this in little stages when I get teh chance at the moment.

                                I have just done the

Agatha scene for the first tme

How far am I into the game ?
