Absolutely. It's highly entertaining, albeit in a typically testosterone airhead-filled way (which isn't a criticism considering Revenge is all about speed and destruction). Burnout 2 and 3 didn't really grip but this has brought me back to the series.

It's about as polished as they come.

Agreed - I wasn't particularly enamoured with 2 or 3, but this has something that's compelled me for most of the weekend, which see's me switching it on for "just another go".

      Heard that before ain't we.

I've been introduced to the Burnout world after getting Burnout Legends, whilst it's a great game, every time I play it I keep thinking "this would be so much better on a console".
I'm running it in 480p on a widescreen, I don' know if its an actual widescreen mode or not, but it doesn't seem out of proportion at all

it is 360 bound, I was gonna save it for that, but all my LIVE friends have bought it, so I thought I'd make the most of it. Plus it might be more expensive on 360 and I wanna spend my 360 time playing real next gen games

Anyone else having real trouble with the burning laps? Ive got all golds and am about 25% through this, but these are a real pain, Im forever missing out by a second or so, or crashing into something at the insane speed. Its the only part Ive found to be difficult so far.

I've found driving them in a slightly more simulationish fashion helps. I.e. I actually take my finger off the boost button at times!

The burning laps are nightmares at times i have found the stupidly annoying part is getting perfect stars on burning laps, you need to level up your wee bar (bottom right hand of hud) to an excellent rating to get the last star, that means having to take risks but its tight enough as it is without having to take those risks.

Ah those burning laps are indeed a bugger. I'm still stumped on the eternal city preview; it's so quick I can do the lap, just not enough time to get up to awesome...
That aside I'm loving this game, started on Saturday morning, Trying to complete skill levels entirely before moving on, so I'm on assassin level but I?m only playing level five races. Also I think I've seriously damaged my thumb from all that boosting and crashbreakers!

Thats another annoying thing about this game the RSI you get from playing it.
My thumb and hands are also killing me and thats on a s-pad.

For Eternal City Burning Lap, I didn't take any shortcuts at all (apart from the very last one over the bridge), and did huge powerslides around every corner, smashed every car I could and went on the wrong side at every other time. I got Awesome rating just before the last shortcut entry. Its tight, but doable. I still made the lap with about 6 seconds to spare too.

                              Burnout Revenge (PS2).

(Edit) OK, so now we do not have an Xbox specific thread on this. I did a "find" on most of the pages for the Xbox one just to make sure there was no mention of the PS2.

Any more people with the PS2 version of this?

First impressions... 60 Hz option... good thing. First few minutes of racing was fun. The game played at a breakneck speed. Driving through traffic lost its shine after the fist few races though, so this aspect could get somewhat tedious.

Crash mode is not separate but is part of each area which I don't like. The crash mode in my opinion is nowhere near as good as in Burnout 3.

Disk loading times are absolutely horrendous. I gave up in disgust after about 15 minutes and put it onto an HD, at which time they were just slow!!

I must say I am a little disappointed in the game. I think in some respects they are trying to be too clever. I know that sticking to the format of Burnout 3 would not really be on for a sequel, so I am not sure how they could have done it better.

I will be playing it again, but I will be checking out ARMax codes to see what I can do with the game (only really used it to unlock cars seemingly temporarily for Crash mode on Burnout 3).

My bad there, I just made the thread with the version I got.

I was going to rename the thread but someone did that for me already - Thanks!

I agree with you about the crash modes too, I would have liked to see them seperate as with the other Burnout games, not a huge problem though I guess, just makes it more of an effort to jump in for some quick crashing!
