Nah, i didnt like the crash mode in BO3 because of all the tokens\icons for boost, x2, x3 and x4 bonuses. It wasnt even about crashing, who ever got a bit of carnage going on and a pile up, and slides\explodes into the x4 multiplier its over for everyone elses chance at winning unless they got the same x4 multiplier.

The golf swing-o-meter just adds a bit of risk to boosting imo, and a bit humour too. The amount of people who would accidently overshot the power and end up with $0 sometimes.

However the one aspect of BO3 Crash which was better, was the ability to watch the highest scorers replay! In this, its totally been ommitted, just dont understand what the thinking, or they just happened to have forgot.

Also, cant remember which Crash mode, but theres a mode where say you are in a party of 6, you are paired of against 1 different person per round. So you have to not only crash and get a good chancea high score, but you have to worry about your opponent not smacking you up, and not blocking up traffic with his own crash and claiming all the $'s! Was great fun tbh, most fun ive had on live for ages.

GG's Mood, Paleface, WideGoat (Kept shouting a random Street Fighter special move at me, everytime he Takedown'd me ), Ben 81, David Fallows, Goldbricker and anyone else. Played the game practically non stop in the early hours. :S

          Addict...

Its got to be said though, one of the best new features of this burnout has to be the alternate routes and jumps. Just adds so much more fun to it. The jumps in Crash mode are even more exagerated as you can control the car in flight during a slow mo.

Also, thank **** for Custom Soundtracks, just have to remember to switch them back on everytime you reset the xbox.

I'm really enjoying this but its put me right off Legends. Bascially because its reminded me how much Burnout really needs to be played on a big screen and with non-fiddly controls.

Picked this up yesterday and took back Burnout Legends. Been playing offline all morning and loving it.

Of to try out xbox live.

Played the demo of this a couple of weeks ago and was suitably impressed. It seems less annoying and more satisfying than Burnout 3. Think I'll be picking it up today.

Anyone else impressed with the art design of Revenge? The tracks are gorgeous.

The Japanese tracks are outstanding. Buzzing past the appartment buildings and jobs, it looks easily as good as those screens of PGR 3. And then add all the overhead, protruding signs, logos, cables etc (PGR 3 according to IGN is very flat again), and you have a seriously impressive looking game. And then there is the stupidly smooth framerate.. It rocks!

I really can't believe how good looking this game is. Phenomenal. Who needs next gen eh?

Exactly. Apart from the resolution, I really can't see NFS:Piece of **** 3 looking any better than this. Some stuff will, sure, but OMG those Japanese tracks are SICK.

Playing the full version now. Very nice indeed, and another reason why moving over to the next-gen quickly isn't really needed.

It is typically over-produced though on the design-end front. EA have this habit of complicating the aesthetic up with needless clutter which tends to intimidate rather than pull you in.

If I were to show Burnout 4 to a non-gamer they'd be scratching their heads.

...which is bizarre because I thought everything about the EA frontend was designed to be idiot-proof (Do you want to load? Do you Really, Really want to Load? Click to Load. Loaded.)... too many cooks.

It is idiot proof to an extent (in that most normal gamers will be able to adjust), but as with most EA titles these days, it throws too much information at you in a short space of time. This is an odd example and in another genre... but take San Andreas.

A truly gigantic game, but it spaced out the density of (much) of the information it threw at the player to at least give them time to get their heads around the various things it offered. The problem with Burnout 4 is that the GUI/HUD is over-elaborated and the menu system is remicient of PGR in being too overburdened with options when you first look at it.

I've got my head around it easily enough, but if I were to show this to my brother (an ex-gamer) or someone who doesn't play them much they'd probably find themselves swamped to begin with and then turn off. After what Nintendo have been banging on about with the Revolution in terms of bringing new people in with interfaces, I've also been considering the way front-ends can prove to be a turn off.

It's a wonderful game though when you cut through the mustard. Very playable and gratifying.

There is a lot of clutter and does seem to be a lot of button pushing between races. Personally I'd rather it just hopped straight from race end to next course selection and then straight into the race.

All the crap in the middle just gets me out of the zone.

I'm not feeling the new crash mode yet, the golf swing start is really harsh. Can see it being a great laugh at parties and on live though.

The rest of the game is pretty bloody sweet so far though (only rank 2).
