The mountain tracks are fantastic. Favourite Burnout since the original.

Just to say Im loving this so far, what makes it great for me is the wonderful track design, theres just so many alternate routes areas to discover. Im on the Dangerous rank now, the only real problem I have is with the Burning Laps which I always seem to miss out on by a second or so. Hard to believe the game looks so good as well, a frightening amount of detail not to mention objects to interact with all at a silky smoothh speed, I dread to think how good a 360 Burnout will look. Quite at odds with the incredibly poor loading screens between races, which look very out of place in an otherwise slick package. Terrific so far.

I've got to say, the Live aspect of the game is really well done. Just like Halo2 but for Burnout - ace! Nobody on my friends list is on though
Started on the mountain tracks now - just sublime design. Going up across the roofs and crashing back down onto the track is a hugh buzz. This is a massive improvement over Revenge, despite the fact the 'on rails' feel remains at times.
Just trying Team Roadrage now!

Loving White Mountain. I loved the original mountains, but the drift in this game is even better - nailing four perfect drifts in a row is *so* satisfying. The trick, as before, is that whilst the accelerator compounds the drift, the boost is impervious to skid, so you dab the break, fling the tail out, nail the boost again.
Also, the huge jumps in the shortcuts are just nuts. Everytime I'm on Live, you'll suddenly hear a "whoa!" as I hit them.
Loving the Japanese courses I've just opened.
One big step back for me: the way the cars are described. Knowing the classes in 3 was handy, but these are all so identikit - I've no idea what's a "Level 1" car or a "Level 2" car, they all have **** names that only hint at their top speed. Hard to choose. Also, I find the ADHD presentation "Gold! Awesome! Perfect! Ching! Ching! Ching! LOL!" gets tiring after a while.
That said, the trophies are ****ing excellent, especially the animations; never thought I'd look forward to new trophies...
I find I "burn out" of playing it after a while - it's just so hectic. But then I come back the next day and dang, it's ****ing great.
Also, though traffic checking seems dumb, I'm now at levels with enough oncoming to make life tricky, crazy amount of same-way, and lots of buses and artics. Those Japanese freeways covered in buses and traffic are lots of fun.
I think this trumps Burnout3 for "game that will make you say '****' most". It's obscene. That U certificate is a ****ing joke...

I think this is going to be racing game of the year for me at this rate (20% in single player), and that's saying something when you consider we've had Wipeout Pure and Ridge Racers.

Is anyone going to attempt 100% completion? I managed about 93% on Burnout 3. I got Golds on every single event, and all the Crash stuff, but it was some of the Signature Takedowns that I struggled to get. Like 55 Tram Slams in 10 seconds or something
I am so far on 30% on 'Revenge with all Golds and 5 Star perfect ratings on everything currently completled. Looks like you need to get similar crazy moves to open everythhing again, so the best I can hope for is mid 90's again. Oh, and I don't have Madden 2005 either, so can't get the secret car for that.

Im on 100% now as of last night.
I got 100% on BO3 as well mind, yes I am insane but in BO3 is was more pure luck obtaining those signature takedowns whereas here is seems much more possible and I got there with very little re-attempts.
The best (and hardest) parts to do are not crashing in an entire race and winning... its like burning laps intense but with other cars on the road wanting your blood.
Anyway great game. I'll now concentrate fully on XBL and Ninja Gaiden Black.

Whether or not I 100% it depends on how much the difficulty ramps up. I 100% Burnout 3 but to be honest I found it quite easy (one of the very very very few games I can say that about - I suck). I'll probably get to the point of diminishing returns where I'm satisfied and will then move on.
So many games. So little time.
It has to be said that I can't remember the last time I played a game that was such pure unadulterated fun. I'm either sat slack jawed in concentration or whooping and laughing at the chaos on screen.Last edited by Ish; 25-09-2005, 09:01.

Does anybody know if this game has a widescreen mode and support for progressive scan? I'm considering picking up an Xbox to play it
I've been introduced to the Burnout world after getting Burnout Legends, whilst it's a great game, every time I play it I keep thinking "this would be so much better on a console".

Can't find a widescreen mode in the options (as stated the menus are a mess), but Gamespot state the game runs in 480p and there is widescreen available.
I have Burnout Legends, and trust me, Revenge is on a whole other plane. The production values, graphics, control, energy, impact and sheer enjoyment the game has is predictably a lot more intense. Imagine Legends as watching Return of the King on a mono 14" portable television, and Revenge as the same film on a surround sound cinema screen, and you'll get the picture with regards to the difference.
