I still think this is one of the best compilations of recent times (only Midway Arcade Treasures betters it, but that's because it has Robotron)

Originally posted by StriderYou know what I mean mate. Some people never seem happy unless they're getting to moan about something. I'll have another check tonight, but I'm perfectly happy with the way its turned out. Good on Xplosive for releasing a load of games for a stupidly cheap price.
Surely the entire appeal of these packs is playing perfect versions of those games you remember playing when you were younger. Whilst they may not directly say as much, the intimation of these packs is always such that you will be getting perfect conversions/ports/emulation of the games contained within.
Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands are 2 particularly good examples as these are probably 2 of the most well-designed games in history. Not only featuring some of the most perfectly balanced pixel perfect gameplay in history but absolutely rammed with secrets and hidden intricacies that even the best and most dedicated gamers took YEARS to figure out (and I'm pretty sure their are still facets of the games that are still not fully understood even after 20 years).
Consider this - the "behaviour of bubbles at the top and bottom of the screen not behaving right" may seem quite minor of itself (although I would disagree , knowing how the bubbles will work is surely a major part of how people master bubble Bobble) if the port hasn't got that part right how much else could be wrong. How many of plethora of goodies hidden in the game may not work right (or even at all) when the conversion is poor?
Sure you may have a game that on the surface resembles Bubble Bobble and to a more 'casual' (YUCK! sorry to use that term) gamer it will be as though they are playing Bubble Bobble but at the same time, it isn't quite the Taito classic it once was.
