How are they wiffy? What's apparently wrong with it? Not that I'm complaining mind, mine was free :P
As I said, I haven't had first-hand experience of the UK release, but I've noted several other (normally reliable) sources saying it sucks the big one, of couse, this could all be rubbish.

I'm still getting this one, mind.
Both games are included and Battle Shark is in there as well (just updated first list)

Legends and the Memories duo are seperate entities right? Right? I heard the former isn't just a rehash of the latter, but instead uses a different (Broken) emulator, to do its thing.

Lot of pissing and moaning if you ask me, Stu seems to sum it up pretty well. I've not had the games running side by side, but they certainly seemed fine to me, and everyone knows that the Rainbow Islands music was gonna be wrong, right?

I still think this is one of the best compilations of recent times (only Midway Arcade Treasures betters it, but that's because it has Robotron )

You know what I mean mate. Some people never seem happy unless they're getting to moan about something. I'll have another check tonight, but I'm perfectly happy with the way its turned out. Good on Xplosive for releasing a load of games for a stupidly cheap price.

I'll be picking this up when it's eventually delivered to the shop (grr).

I still don't understand the lack of lightgun support though.

Blame it on greedy licence holders. That's all I can say...

Right, I've been playing this at home and using my Mame Xbox and I can't see any difference on New Zealand Story at all. I've only played the first couple of levels at the mo, but bar the lack of raster lines it looks fine.

I'll check Bubble Bobble in a mo...

Hmmm personally I think the picking of all the niggly little problems in retro packs is somewhat justified.

Surely the entire appeal of these packs is playing perfect versions of those games you remember playing when you were younger. Whilst they may not directly say as much, the intimation of these packs is always such that you will be getting perfect conversions/ports/emulation of the games contained within.

Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands are 2 particularly good examples as these are probably 2 of the most well-designed games in history. Not only featuring some of the most perfectly balanced pixel perfect gameplay in history but absolutely rammed with secrets and hidden intricacies that even the best and most dedicated gamers took YEARS to figure out (and I'm pretty sure their are still facets of the games that are still not fully understood even after 20 years).

Consider this - the "behaviour of bubbles at the top and bottom of the screen not behaving right" may seem quite minor of itself (although I would disagree , knowing how the bubbles will work is surely a major part of how people master bubble Bobble) if the port hasn't got that part right how much else could be wrong. How many of plethora of goodies hidden in the game may not work right (or even at all) when the conversion is poor?

Sure you may have a game that on the surface resembles Bubble Bobble and to a more 'casual' (YUCK! sorry to use that term) gamer it will be as though they are playing Bubble Bobble but at the same time, it isn't quite the Taito classic it once was.

The one i've listed is 100% I've taken it off the actual box. many of those games you've mentioned were listed on the preview code, but not actually playable. Seems strange that mags have printed them...

I agree with what you've written, but I still can't see any differences in the three versions I've tried Mame, Xbox and PS2. Maybe, my eye sight is getting too old to tell the difference. The bubbles in particular seem to group fine to myself, just fired six off in the first level and they all move in the same pattern.

hmmm, also what version of the game are you playing? That other thread was the Xbox version, so maybe if you're using the PS2 one it's the XB conversions that have been borked?
