Play through story mode again. Or time attack for characters not in story mode (default settings for all except difficulty).

            i = 1 I assume

You need to play through story mode upto 8 times with some of the characters. Just keep playing with a character until it doesn't unlock a new costume

It took me around 5-6 hrs solid play to unlock all the costumes

              Sorry about that

Yeah i think i will play in the story mode, except for the secret ones, which i am dreading, as i played the boss with Sparten for 25 minutes in survival today and gave up That is not right.

How many costumes per character are there?

I struggle to understand HD hype, I really do. And I do play my 360 in 720p HD via VGA into a 20" widescreen TFT monitor. Yes it looks nice and yes I have tried it in 480i composite too.

It's sharper. That's it. The textures are identical, absolutely identical. So is the lighting, and wow, so are all the polygons. The game is even the same too.

Do you hear PC guys saying 'You must play *PC game title* in 1680x1050! If you're only using 800x600 you're not seeing it properly!'. No, because they're long, long past the novelty of high-res frame buffers.
It does seem a bit nuts that the whole eletronics industry is making HD into 'the biggest change in tv since colour' - from what is effectively just a higher resolution. And, I have to say watching PGR through my 32 Sony Wega CRT was as impresssive as the HD sets I've seen it on.

As long as effects like anti-alasing are well implimented, I don't see why HD gaming should mean the end of SD gaming.

Well it's a good way to sell new TVs. Hype is good for business.

                    True

I was in Dixons in Leeds yesterday and I was pretty shocked to see there were no CRT TVs for sale. The way stores have whole-heartedly bought into HDTV means all CRTs are effectively worthless.

I can't understand it - the entry level for an LCD/Plasma is so much higher than for a CRT, do how do they expect people to afford them?

I realise this is going off topic.

Sure, most people have SD sets (and it will be a few years before HD takes over), and it still has a future. And still looks very good. But for some people in this thread to say that with HD gaming "you get the same visuals, identical in fact" is simply not true. The games look sharper in HD, and on a big telly that makes a big difference in how things look.

Put it this way, on my old 32 Sony Wega CRT (probably very similar to yours) PS2 games (for example) seemed really sharp using RGB scart. I had no complaints at all with the image quality. The same PS2 games on my new 37" LCD look a blurry mess. This is partly due to my new TV not liking RGB scart as much as my old one, but mostly due to the increase size showing up the low res of the PS2 game.

COD2 in 640x480 on my telly is blurry, and the text is hard to read as a result. In 1360x768 it looks pin sharp and lovely. Sure the underlying game is the same (the same things are being drawn obviously), but in 640x480 it looks much much worse on my telly. To say that the two are "visually identical" is rubbish.

In fact, as a result of the combination of the larger size of my telly (as clearly the larger you go, the more imperfections show up) and the fact that it is an LCD (CRT being generally sharper under like for like resolutions), I'd be willing to bet that COD2 probably looks better in 480i on your 32" CRT than it does on my 37" LCD at 640x480.

So, for you, SD gaming is fine. For those with large LCD/plasmas, anything less than HD looks very poor in comparison.

(which in a completely off topic moment, is why I will be saddened if the revolution doesn't output above 480p -my new telly won't do it justice if it does. And that will perhaps lose them a sale)

Received my copy from Gameplay this morning, loving it a lot. I'm utterly hopeless at it though, just cannot get the counter timing down properly Looking forward to getting better at it!

One thing to remember is that HD really only becomes needed and noticable at 26" and higher, so using a 20" for comparison is not going to give the best results.

Sorry, had to brag. You know how it is. 8)

Anyone read the Eurogamer review? It got quite a rough time (6/10).

I haven't got a 360, although I've been playing on a mates quite a bit. This game was suppsoed to be the one which made me get one for my birthday in Feb. Now I'm confused.

Basically the reviewer is a long term fan of the series, like me. And the criticsms he made did seem fair. Can anyone comment?

Dunno haven't read it yet, but for me, beyond the spikey AI, it's pretty solid all-round.
