Green - is that the ?Hold? Venom was talking about? This appears to be a grab of some sort?Does this mean you can grab from a critical hit? Is a hold a multigrab? Do you have to shake free of the stun before you can hold?
Blue ? No idea what these are or how you get them :\

So from a critical you can only shake the stun or hold right? Can you counter? And when I say counter I mean ?7,4,1 and the F button?? If you can counter, can you counter straight away or do you have to shake and then counter??

Do you have to shake out of every kind of stun?

I take it there is no form of side step in the game to avoid attacks? Like a timing thing specifically to avoid something?

I have also seen moves where characters avoid attacks instead of countering when using ?7,4,1 and the F button?. Can you choose to do this or is it automatic depending on the move you counter.

I hope guys can help, I really need to know the system before I can begin to move forward.
From my understanding you're spot on with red. Green is when you reverse a high, medium or low attack and is the type of counter you REALLY need to learn. The system works as follows. If the opponent is attacking with a medium punch, hit back and X (block) just before the punch connects. You will reverse it. Hit forward and X if it's a medium kick. For high kicks and punches hit NW (northwest) and X. For low kicks and punches hit SW and X. So that's four types of reversal. Now let's say your opponent is abusing a PPP combo in the match. If you hold X you will block it of course. But if you hold it and hit back and X just as the last punch is about to connect you will reverse it. Go into sparring mode and make the CPU do medium, low, high punches and kicks. Then practise reversing them. You can also make the CPU do combos against you which allows you to practise reversing in the middle of a combo. In other words, sparring mode is your friend.

What about blue? Well let's say your opponent tries to do a reversal as described above, but he fails (ie. mistimes it or hits the wrong direction with X eg. trying to reverse a punch when you are kicking). For a brief moment he will be prone to an attack. If you grab him (A button) you do a counter-throw. This will take a TON of damage off him. It's meant to punish people who fail to counter properly.

You can sidestep. Double tap up or down to do it.

A lot of this is actually in the manual, but poorly explained. Hopefully this helps.

            can anyone confirm this?
Yes Ein was first introduced in DOA2/DOAU 2.

He was captured before DOA2,and became the subject of the experimental superhuman project aka project epsilon. They used him and left him to die in germany.Through the experiments he suffered amnesia, and the only desire left within him was the desire to fight! So for reason's unknown,he mastered karate(ein) and joined the DOA2 world tournament, with the hope of regaining his memory.

Throughout the story mode in DOA2 you will notice that helena confronts ein and recognise's him.She mentions him being part of project epsilon but ein has no idea what she's talking about. Also both kasumi and ayane come across him in DOA2,and try to remind him of who he is(he is kasumi's brother and ayanes step brother). But to no avail. It's not until the end of the game that ein's memory returns, and he realise's that he has been brainwashed and he is really Hayate of the mugen tenshin tenjinmon clan.

After regaining his memory,he becomes the new leader of the mugen tenshin tenjinmon clan of which kasumi and ayane both studied at.

Obviously kasumi ran away from the clan, which is why there is that divide between her and ayane, and it also explains some of the cutscene's in DOA4 when playing as kasumi or ayane.

But one thing that has puzzled me now is that lisa/la mariposa claims she was behind project epsilon all along!

Thats why i love the DOA story, way beyond Tekken's or VF's non existant story.

It's not as bad as it sounds. The real complication is timing the counters and anticipating the moves of your opponents. It all comes down to mind games really, and can become seriously addictive.

damn survival mode, keep getting to 19 wins and then getting nailed by whoever the opponent is.

I am going to crack it though

Akira, that sounds like what I wa saying with the blanks filled in... so in terms of the story,

                  Ein is Hayate?

                  Nice

I ended up messing about in Sparring mode last night for about 2 hours... how can a game be so good that you are happy losing hours to just pounding out moves in a dojo, this thing is like drud. Working on Hyabusa and Christie was last nights action and I didnt want to put it off, I couldn't put it off, it is far too addictive.

Oh and the survival mode is rock ****ing solid... am avergaing about 11 wins then getting my arse handed to me, seems much harder than 3 and Ultimate but I aint complaining, bring it on I say, that 20 survival kills achievment is going down.

I really hope that the next DOA game (Code Cronus?) is an RPG. It needs to be done, to explain the story and universe. Has it ever been explained who the demons are that you kill at the end are?

I'm getting a little worried that this game is a wasted buy for me - I'm enjoying it 'n all, but I've yet to find an online match which is running faster than 5 frames per second.

All the games I can select have either 2 or 1 bar for connection quality

Too many USA & JP's PeteJ - Add all the people in the DOA4 tournament thread we've all been playing the last week or so and had some quality sessions - I've seen it running as good as it does offline which is just scary for a 60fps fighter.

Fair point! I just had my first online match, lost 2-1 which I didn't think was too bad going

I have most of you on my list already, will go through and make sure I'm not missing anyone!
