Blocking which I mentioned earlier does work, but you have to be quick and have a lot of luck - plus you can't overuse it as she gets wise and goes to town on you.

Anyone else noticed any glitches in the animations yet? I'm curious as at least three or four times now I've seen me belt characters around the stage like ragdolls, knocking them to the floor, only for them to be up like a shot and laying in to me. It's not even like they're doing a recovery, they go from prone to standing and attacking in a split second.

It's almost like if you floor them when they're about to do a major combo, the game doesn't take to kindly to it and goes through the combo anyway. It's been most noticable with Jann Lee and Christie, on the more difficult stages (things like round 7 or 8 ).
Yes, I've had that happen a few times to me. I've also come across one or two dodgy collision detections as well, you know when you sure you see the kick or punch connect against a character who is stuck against the wall, but it doesn't register and the AI carries on and counters regardless.

As you say, with the watery bitch, a different mode of attack is required since she will hand your arse quickly if you let her. The thing that really annoys me about her, is her ability to teleport mid-combo against you, appear behind and she either launches into her kick-flurry or does the grab that depletes half your energy.

I have just read about a bug in this game that deletes your save game - before loading the game make sure you are signed into your profile. Tecmo are aware of the issue and are planning an update over live.

Anyway, I just bought the game from VG+...hopefully soon

Glad it's not just me. I've noticed it with some grabs as well. It's frustrating to do a well timed grab on your opponent and have your character's hands and arms just go right through them

I heard there's also a problem with multiple accounts being stored on one system as in VS mode the game trys to get you to create another profile for the second play (and then sign in the second profile everytime the second player joins in). You don't have to sign them in to play though, so it's just as well.

YES,the US version is region free.Make sure your pal 360 is set to 60hz otherwise it does'nt work.

Regarding the glitch you mentioned spatial.I have'nt come across that specific one but,i have noticed this annoying glitch on the gamblers paradise level, where one of the spectator's in the background who walks beneath the glowing lights seems to skip back and forwards when he walks.Looks like sadako in the Ring, where he walks forward, skips back, then forward again!

Really annoying when everything else looks so beautiful. Also whats the deal with the fighter select screen when playing online? sometimes it does'nt even register that your moving the dpad/analog stick and when you select your character,it automatically picks your costume as well. It's like you've pressed the A button twice really quickly! Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

Finally, before i stop moaning.Has anyone had any problem with the 360 dpad, while playing this? i've got two controllers(wired+wireless)and both have this problem where it does'nt allways register when you press right on the dpad.Instead of tapping it lightly to dash forward,i have to press down really hard.VERY annoying when playing online.

But,i'm completed addicted to this right now.Was playing it till like 6:30 this morning

I haven't any problems with collision detection. With throws are you sure you aren't accidently performing a low throw (down/down forward + P + F) in which case the fighter's hands will pass through as it misses. Also, with regards with some hits not registering when smacked against a wall, it's due to the damage restriction to the combos implemented in the game.

                Great game.

Graphically at first doesn't seem to be a massive leap from DOA:U but the more you play the more you appreciate the subtlies and then you realise that it's more of a leap than you initially realise. I think that it's the style of the characters that make you think meh at first as they are still cute/cartoon like in the main, but you don't expect realism and grit with a DOA title do you?.

Everthing is just so big bright and solid. Limbs no long look/feel like a seperate part of each combatant and when grapples take place there's no nasty melding between fighters. Hair and clothes flow realistically and when the fighters are thrown face first into a pillar it makes you wince.

I'm no expert but Brad Wong is a real strong Character now. His combos are very unpredicable, i even managed to perfect the boss on my first go with him (probably a fluke)

Easily the best DOA so far.

I'm a total n00b when it comes to DOA but have to say I am loving this so far, managed to do the story mode 3 times with different characters.

Who is the best character to use for a n00b and how do you unlock Helena ?

All the grabs I've noticed it on have been standing ones.

The collision issue is definately there - there's even some video's on the net which have captured it. It seems to be totally random and doesn't happen very often (I've had it about maybe six or seven times out of all the 10 hours plus of games I've played) - it's frustrating when it happens but it's hardly like you have time to worry about it as you struggle to regain control of the match

Much more annoying is the floored / instant get up animation glitch tactic employed by the computer (something I've suspiciously yet to see replicated online )

You have to complete the game as each of the fighters on story mode before she becomes available.

I'm not really a fighting game fan but I got DOA4 last week. It's been a while since I put any significant time into a game like this (Tekken 2 probably...) so the hour or so I've spent with DOA4 has been kind of strange. I've pretty much button-mashed my way through the story mode - endless PPP/PPKs - with a few characters and using the same 'tactics' I can get to about 7 or 8 wins in survival mode before the CPU moves up a notch and destroys me.

Even on normal it seems very fast and fairly complicated and so far it's been more frustrating than fun. I'm kind of in two minds about whether to

                          - just sell it on and just play the other 360 games that I have or
                          - to put some effort in to get to grips with it

Assuming that I went for the latter, what's the best way to get into this game? I wish the game had a nice interactive tutorial mode that started really slowly, took you through the basics (blocking successfully, pulling off holds etc) and gradually sped things up until it reached what you see towards the end of story mode on Normal. Given that doesn't exist, what's the best way to get good at the basics?

Sorry if this has already been discussed (checked back, but couldn't find any evidence that it had), but what do people think about the DOA 4 arcade stick? Is it worth the money, and does it really enhance the gaming experience? Very tempted for a purchase, but it is a pricey purchase...

I am finding playing using the pad is good enough for me, but its all down to personal choice
