well after playing PGR3 for about 15-18 hours it now locks up on me everytime i try to choose a car, and looks like this

Thought something was odd last night when i was looking through some pics i made, using the L/R triggers to scroll through then went to a black screen.

Since turning it back on i cannot do anything, after trying PD0 for about 30 mins or so and not having a problem i decided to try deleting my pics just incase it was some odd bug, didnt make a difference, so i went all the way and deleted my save which seems to have fixed it, the annoying thing is obviously ive lost all my progress (had most the cars and a couple of Golds left to go)

Amen to that Cobra. Just had a few races in the online career there and its ****. So crap. Got spun out and nudged like 20 times!

One race, I got slammed in the first corner as usual, then got back into 4th position by some good racing, and then a guy just rammed me into the barrier as I tried to pass him on a straight road! Totally on purpose, going out of his way to put me out the race as if its a bloody Burnout game or something!!!? So annoying!!

Edit: Oh, thats nasty dude.. Gotta start all over again!!

I suggested that (sort of) on the Bizare forums about 2 years ago, so I`m taking credit for it.

            Bah.
Try "Gotham Duelling" or whatever it's called - 1 on 1 racing - Sorts the men from the boys......

They need to implement some kind of penalty that is incurred if you hit another car at a high relative speed in online mode.

This is a bit of a misconception: the information would still have to be copied to the HD in the first place - so how would you actually save time on the loading at the beginning of a race? You still have the same bottle neck there regardless, whether it's caching to disc or memory at the begining of a race. The only way this would be speeded up would be to load the entire track and car data to the HD when the game boots (that's a lot of data). Once the race is loaded there are no streaming issues, I do agree that it's a shame the load times aren't quicker mind.

It would be nice to see games installable to the HD in their entirety, and like with PC games have to have the disc in the drive to play it, although I guess this might leave an entry point into cracking the system.

It's not usually high speed collisions that are the problem - it's slowish corners with low impact velocities that cause most issues. If the impact velocity is really high, the car in front turns transparent and there is no collision. Of course, this doesn't stop people nudging etc, as the actual impact velocity between the two cars is pretty minimal, but is enough to further unbalance the already unbalanced car in front (on the limit going through a corner, for example).

No he's saying that it's cached when the game is first started up (as you also said), like current Xbox games do now, not before each race.

Disapointed to hear all this negative stuff on the online career, as I was looking forward to really getting into this now SP is done. Sounds like the driving has got alot worse than it was when I was playing this alot within the first week of release. I guess that with more time though, more dicks will get online with it ! I found that the key to winning races in online career (I stress I was mainly playing Class E) was to hang back a little at the start, let the chaos in the first corner occur, then take a tight inside line through the first corner, from which you were usually always guaranteed the lead or atleast 2nd place. If there was a guy infront of you he had usually employed the same tactic as you, and therefore is a decent driver not looking to wall or car ride ! Just a mater of keeping your pace up then so the guys slowed down from the first corner collisions could not catch you, and if you do spot that one of them has caught you up, take a erratic late line through a bend, so instead of powering into you and bouncing off, they just power straight into a wall.

Guess we've all gotta remember though that :
He didn't slam you, He didn't bump you, He didn't nudge you... he rubbed you. And rubbin, son, is racin'

I think what it really is is that they "need to finish the game"

For example capture the track - great mode - But why isn't everybody a ghost car and therefore unable to collide ? There should be an option to turn collisions off - it's been done before (Colin Mcrae) and it works.

I'm pretty sure that, like CoD2, there'll be a pretty meaty patch for this to resolve several issues/sticking points.

Are devs allowed to patch games even for online sections ? Just thinking that it is unlikely that people with the core system will be able to store these patches on a memory card, and therefore if a patch is released changing a fundamental aspect of the game i.e. as you say above all cars are ghost cars or collisions are switched off, will this not mean that core systems will not be able to play online or atleast against premium systems, as they will be playing a different version of the same game.

Don't get me wrong I could not care one bit about the core system tbh, but as microsoft have commited to that concept surely they will have to prevent devs from rendering the core system useless for online play on certain games, atleast this early on

You can't play online without a HD or Memory card. Problem solved.

I know, but how many patches can you put on a memory card of 64 meg ? Average PC patch seems to start at around 20meg !

Cheers - will do. I want to put in some practice offline first before inevitably getting slaightered though.
