It is, isn't it? I said somewhere that it is a testament just how good the original game is and just how fine an arcade port should be as the Saturn version loses nothing of the original game play.

2006 is really good in places and the career mode is nice enough once you get into it yet it takes a while to get some decent cars going, cars that handle like their arcade equivalent (the Ford is nice, fast and handles well; my fave so far). I've mostly played the arcade mode. Series 4 has all the original tracks

There's some ground texture flickering at teh start of the race in-car view on'95 and when after finishing a race the camera pans around the car and you can see some graphical issues - is this exactly the same as the arcade?

Im just wondering how close '95 is to the arcade than VF2 Sega ages debacle...

Its not the same as the arcade. Its seems like a cross between the saturn and arcade game. Heres some screenshots of the arcade.

In the arcade the car is alot closer to the screen and the HUD has a completely different style and it looks grittier compared to the PS2 game. Also the rear view mirror is missing on the PS2 (outside). Pretty dissapointing imo. Sega can't seem to do anything right these days but I am enjoying it.

Those screen shots are from a 40% complete Arcade version. In the final Arcade version there was no rear view mirror when inthe outside view.

God what to people expect from nothing more than a free bouns disc

just been playing on sega rally 06 and its annoying as the handling isn't right and the career mode the time goes too quickly as i was fiddling with cars and working out what is what as theres no english and it had gone into february so missed out on some events

Lack of understand on your behalf then. You can't do all of the events immediately and you're given the chance to sign up for all open events from the off. The handling is 'off' as you're initially driving a regular car. Compared to the arcade mode which is, effectively, a rally modified equivalent.

I wonder how many have played career mode though, hopefully not formulating an opinion based on just the arcade mode? I'm not sure what some folk expected but it is getting written off fairly quickly; did you all (well, not all of you... you know who) think Sega Rally was the best racer ever after less than half an hour of play time?

I dunno man, it took me a few years to get it

Just thought: the handling could also be 'off' as you're using the wrong tyres. You have to make the decision to use the appropriate tyres.

And don't forget you can change the resolution of SRC; hit the select button on the title screen. Have fun!

I havent played career mode all the way through but its just seems to be an painfully average rally game. Handlings o.k, looks bad etc it just doesnt do anything well and career mode is plain boring. Even playing the remade stages in 2006 is rubbish. Maybe the career mode will get better, but I just dont see it and I think its safe to say we wont be saying this is the best racing game in a few years time.

You know you can change the difficulty right? Press select on the SR1995 splash screen and knock the difficulty down, if you can't finish it then there's no helping you

Yeah i was kinder expecting this from Sega - i mean there's only so much they can do now days, adding simulation aspects to it - but without any crashes, keeping it to the arcade side of things still - oh well its ok but nothing great - maybe we'd see a new racer from them later?

I played WRC rally evolved after playing SR06 and you can see quite a big difference, visual and gameplay wise.

SRC'95 is such a blast from the past tho, i found it more fun than the Saturn version, prolly due to the easier controls (analog stick)!

I got this myself for the bonus disc and its terrible. I still play the saturn version and looks like I still will as that version still plays much better with the nights analog pad. This is definetly not an arcade perfect port as I was sat watching the arcade machine last month in The forum arcade in Bridlington (we went to see King Kong in there). Ive played a bit of the actual 2005 version but it just left me cold as it was nothing that exiting. For me it was such a disapointment as I was finally hoping we would get a proper Sega Rally port after all this time.

It's not perfect, but it's a good port. They've captured the excitement of the arcade and managed to do a fantastic job of replicating the controls on the Dual Shock 2.

Don't get me wrong, the Saturn version is fantastic, but it's totally overshadowed by the PS2 port of 1995. The only thing of note missing is link play.
