When I was at the peak of my DMC play I was basing nearly all my stuff on Venom743 from heres vids, some of his boss methods with Dante were nuts. Like the no weapon take down of Mission 2 Vanguard boss and some insane speed runs of Vergil3. Could never quite reach the 40 odd seconds he was setting on Vergil3 but god dam it it felt good going close and knowing you had Vergil in your pocket.

There were some brilliant routines flying about back then and there are going to be some amazing ones hitting the forum pretty shortly with Vergil

Yeah, Venom's Royal Gaurd methods were amazing without a doubt. Very safe and sure methods to beat any boss. The chess battle was one of my favourites, a strat I use to this day.

In terms of Vergil boss battles, I'm almost finished getting SS ranks on all the Very hard levels for Vergil, 5 more to go! and then I'm gonna start getting some DMD no damage boss vids under my belt for both Vergil and Dante. So I'll definately be able to hook you guys up with those

Aye Venoms RG stuff was brilliant and between that and Saurians / Venoms Swordmaster madnes with all sorts of weapon switches and mid air enemy steps it was enough to make your eyes bleed. Looking forward to the turbo mode and gettin my teeth into Very Hard mode. It seems like the perfect setting for really working on the methods while still getting a solid challenge from the AI.

Challenge on VH is alrite, DMD is still the best for practicing combos on enemies, especially the sloths, but when it comes to bosses, practicing and getting zero damage on VH is a good way to start before jumping up to DMD. Turbo mode is tons of fun, but its hard to master things you havent already done on normal speed. So once you got stuff down to a T on normal and with a little bit of practice, jump cancelling and wat not on Turbo, then things get really interesting.

Ah, where to begin...

Well I had this ordered from Play so was expecting to receive today or tomorrow but while shopping yesterday it turns out Game were selling it a bit early for ?15. So I phoned my mate to offer my Play copy to him and grabbed me a nice big slice of heaven a day earlier than scheduled.

Now, being a DMC nut I could obsess about this for the remainder of my working day but that would detract from my timr spent talking about all the **** I can and want to do with Vergil

New modes are superb, Vergil available right from the off, controls for him are ace and at ?15 you really cant say no even if you played the original. Overall just a fantastic Special Edition release of an already stellar title.

Now to the important stuff, Vergil... its hard at first playing withthe different controls but after a good few hours, multiple replays of Mission 1 (The lab) and a lot of move upgrades I am right at home in my Vergil pants. The Darkslayer style is a sickeningly eveil version of Trickster with so much more potential than Dantes style. At first I didnt think I would be able to get my head around this 3 weapon switchin stuff but now I have it wired - Only use one button and just memorise the number of button presses required to get me to the weapon I want - so I am now pulling off some really nice stuff. Granted I am in my Vergil infancy and there is so much left to come it still feels like when I am in the zone with this boy he is untouchable.

I have only played up to mission 4 but have replayed each of these missions LOADS of times with SS ranks in place for Mission 1 and 2 which is quite good after a first night

Vergisl taunts are amazing his charge moves are insane and dont even get my started on the summon swords (which I have fully upgraded already) as I nearly fell off my chair when I seen these in action on the max level.

Christmas came early for me yesterday and this feeling aint gonna stop for weeks. DMC is back baby and its sicker than ever!!

Sent my girl out this morning with strict instructions to pick up a copy before her meeting - its a gamble though as she could goof it and turn up at lunchtime with DMC3 Non-Special Ed >_< Failing that I'm across the river at Lunch to get it from Game. Failing that I'm off into central after work. Failing that I'm off round yours mate

Not touched my PS2 for a while now - hope the skills are still there >_< Gigapede gonna get a stomping tonight I bet his missed me!

That pussy Gigapede got slaughtered first go in a silly quick time by my infant Vergil last night, his blood was everywhere, then to finish off I capped a wee DT release on his brain using the extra 3 DT orbs I have purchased so far. Unbelievable how quickly you can get them upgraded when you not wasting orbs on vital stars and **** like that... pouring all my orbs into upgrades right now.

And a quick question for those who have played this already in Jap version... does Vergil get the Air Hike move? I have Dark slayer style up to Level 2 already and it is pretty amazing but am missing that lovely great big air hike

Was in oxford street today, however neither of the two HMV's, nor Game, nor Virgin were selling the game. I thought it was delayed again. Anyone care to shed some light on what's going on?

Edit: checked on the 30th, apparently both Game and Virgin had the game in stock, just not on the shelves. Couldn't tell me why that was the case. Neither of the HMV stores had it at all though.

Ended up picking it up from Virgin.

Yeah, have fun in Bloody palace. One of the levels in the 9000's has 3 DT'd Hell Vangaurds. thats a slaughter waiting to happen for Dante or Vergil. Forget any kind of combo, get in 1 hit, and then try dodging 9 sets of teleports at once. Its rediculous.
And no, Vergil doesnt get a 2nd jump, but he deosnt really need it. But yes, I know exactly what your going thru because I went through the same thing. It passes, believe me it passes . And wait for DS lvl 3, Trick Down is prolly the most useful of Vergil teleports, and especially comes in handy for quick get aways. Another thing about the regular Air Tricks (Circle by itself) is that if your not locked on to anyone, you can press Circle and the control stick towards an enemy and you will teleport towards that enemy. that really comes in handy when dealing with multiple guys on screen.

Not had a chance to hit those vids yet mate cause been enjoying some Vergil of my own over the weekend up to Mission 14 on Normal, with Vergil2 getting smacked about silly first time round last night.

So far the only boss that has taken me out has been the Devil Horse (Cant remember its name) as it kept twatting me when I got in close. Clumsiness on my part the problem their. Quite surprised only this boss has taken me down as I thought using a brand new character would cause a lot more problems with some bosses but it dont, probably because Vergil is so god dam mean. I have him fully upgraded with level 3 Darkslayer and all the moves purchased. It is becoming pretty clear that this DS style is going to be filthy when I get more time with it.

Best bits so far are, using "Trick up" and "Trick down" to rip Beowulf apart, dodging his lunges and tricking up to his face for maximum damage then tricking down to evade and set up another attack. Also Gigapede doesn't know is going on when you start using Vergils teleport to get on his back and he fell easier than he ever did using Dante.

Hoping to get normal finished with Vergil by tomorrow then can start looking at the harder modes and getting Dante upgraded. Without doubt the best Special edition of a game I have ever seen and the best ?15 I have spent in years.

Quick question, can you carry orbs you have collected while playing as Vergil into a Dante game if you start the Dante game once you have completed a Vergil run?

Geryon is the name of the horse and I had sooooo much trouble fighting him at first, but you should watch my vid, I tear his ass to shreads on DMD. Vergil rips both Beowulf and Gigapede a new asshole, its rediculous. Yea, Dark Slayer is an amazing style for quick retreats, and quick rushes. Get in, do the attack, get out. Its as simple as that. Neway, good luck with the rest of normal.

And there's no rush on the vids, they're not goin newhere.
