    Anyone wanna swap a PAL PS2 for a US/Jap PS2??

What Gamecentral said was that Sony wouldn't allow capcom to release a platinum version of a game with new content. That may explain why VF:Evolution was full price here whereas in the US it was a half price greatest hits release.

They could be wrong and it may still come out but if there's still no Pal listing for it in a month or 2 I doubt it.

              There's 3 regions of PS2:

              USA, Japan and Europe.

USA and Japan both output the same display signal to a TV, which is called NTSC.
Europe has it's own display standard called PAL. So people refer to European PS2s as PAL PS2s.

The difference between them means games have to be adjusted to run correctly in Europe, or alternatively they can include a 60hz mode (effectively the same as NTSC).

AHHH, ok that makes so much sense, the program I used for making movies does NTSC and PAl formats, it just never clicked. I dont get it though, why would Sony make two different types of PS2? they got beef with Europe or something? ****ty deal for PAL owners, no way around it! ****ty deal!

Wow, what a pleasure it is to revisit this game once again. It's easily one of the best PS2 games of all time, and hasn't aged one bit since it's release over a year ago. My original DMC3 was JPN but I'm certainly enjoying going through the game again with Dante on normal. Too much NGB appears to have made me lose some of my touch in DMC3 but I'm getting back into the swing of things fairly quickly.

Have to say though, Turbo mode could have been much faster to truly distinguish itself since it's not the intense test of reflexes I thought it would turn out to be.

Can't wait to unlock Vergil and his surely horrific Dark Slayer style.

ps. US box-art isn't that bad. At least you don't have to change the language in the options everytime you boot the game like the JPN version. So it all balances out you see.

Well, there are 3 types of PS2... Japan, North America and Europe.

They have different region codes so they can control the distrobution and licencing in each region. This is nothing new, it's been like this since the NES.
Most of us have modchips, as this allows us to buy the edition of games WE want to buy, and not be crippled by any differences local publishers may want to force upon us (difference in release date, features, 60Hz mode etc).

No offence mate, but have you been asleep the last 15 years?

yeah man, the Box was a thing for me too, but it doesnt even bother me, I just stuck it away in my closet, and I got the game in my ps2 at all times, Vergil is definately worth the wait man, did you see my posted Vid of corrupt Vergil and Nero Angelo?

extremely ignorant I guess 8) , in all honesty never really dealt with anything outside the country, never ordered anything from overseas, or even looked into the modchips, so how would I have any knowledge of it? hell, this is the first real forum I've really been interested in as well, so thats why i never really heard of PAL, or region locking b4. Guess I'm not as hardcore as most people here

Ah well it's just the way things are unfortunately... if you ever wanna play a game from another region, you gotta jump through some hoops =/

Mine you, you live in Canada so I suppose there's less need to import. In Europe, you kinda have to if you wanna play anything decent in good time.

yeah, Canada is pretty good in terms of releases, I can thank the US for that one, so I've never really had a real need to read into any of the mod chips, or learn about the region locking thing. On the bright side though, at least there are mod chips out there that you can use to get around that region locking crap, and the long waits.

I was thinking that too, but i just tested all 4 triggers, and rotating the left thumbstick clockwise, counter-clockwise, nothing happened. So i guess not
