yeah, what sux about the Special Edition, I must warn you, is that you have to restart any files u have w/ Dante, because your progress cant be switched over. However dont delete it or nething, cause a completed game save is needed to unlock vergil, and if you can do that right from the start, its pretty cool. Although losing your progess on DMC3 original might sound ****ty at the beginning, I think I put close to 60 hours on both characters on the SE, and its really cool being able to switch btw Dante and Vergil just by loading a diff slot

I'm in Canada, and it released pretty early here, I think it was January 23rd, so i got lucky and didnt have to order it or nething.

wow, thats some motivation right there, but believe me, I have a lot to learn as well. But Vergil is pretty cool, the best way to describe his fighting tactics is to picture yourself walking casually thru a room full of enemies, and by the time you get to the other side, everything is dead. It's a US import. SCEE apparently won't allow budget re-releases with added content so there won't be a PAL version. VF evolution was full price here while it was a budget release in the US.

There is a code now to unlock Vergil, all outfits and difficulty settings from the beginning without previous save data.

Vergil does feel very different to Dante. He flows differently and you have to adjust to the switch from guns to the spirit swords. At the moment Im struggling a bit, but I haven't played alot so far or upgraded him.

Alright, this is basically what I had typed before, except all the vids have been uploaded anew and reposted. The vids vary in length but are pretty much less than 90 secs, and they're all pretty small files, so 56k users wont have to deal with endless download times. Cheers guys, hope it helps.

basic movement 2 - Dark Slayer 'Trick Up' functions the same as a second jump

basic movement 3 - Dark Slayer 'Trick Down' this pulls Vergil away from the enemy, as well as down to the ground (if executed whilst airborn)

*also note that 'Air Trick' is executed instead of a second Trick Down, despite the fact I'm still pushing the back direction.
Both trick up and trick down are similar in this regard and cannot be performed twice in a row without a slight recovery.

advanced movement 1 - all 3 dashes can be used one after the other in any order to perform quick advance and retreat tactics - plz note, the 2nd dash 'air trick' (one where I appear and reappear in the same spot) would put me closer to the enemy in actual combat

notice the distance covered witht the Jump, Trick Up, Air Trick Combo, and back again with Trick Down, great for getting out of harms way

advanced movement 3 - the left analog can also be used to aim in which direction you want to teleport, AS LONG AS there are multiple enemies on screen and the stick is pointed towards one of their positions, this is a great technique for crowd control

Basic Combat 2: notice how after each full combo using Yamatto, Vergil sheethes it after the attack animations. If he is allowed an uninterupted amount of time after using one of these combos, (if the enemy is alone and dies b4 the last hit it will not work) to sheath Yamatto, you are awarded 1 full bubble of DT, and half a meter of style points

Advanced Combat 1 - By using 2 hits for the Yamatto and Beowful combos, and 4 hits for the Force Edge combo, Vergil can perform a simple, never ending combo which can be cancelled at any time

Advanced Combat 1 - Dark Slayer dashes can also be used to interupt attacks and move Vergil out of harms way, but some attacks cannot be cancelled, similar to Dante with RG. http://s48.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1...U36WW2BP1Q0TIF The first attack there with Force Edge is normally a 2 hit attack, but Dark slayer can be used to cancel the 2nd. As you notice with Yamatto and Beowulf, not all moves can be canceled with Dark Slayer, experiment for yourself to be sure what can and what cant be cancelled.

Advanced Combat 2 - learning how to use Vergil's attacks in conjunction with Dark Slayer is key.

Advanced Combat 3 - Aerial Rave (pressing Tri in mid-air with Yamatto) is probably one of Vergil's best moves, and can be enemy step cancelled while airborn and does some serious damage.

you can also allow Vergil to hit both strikes, knocking the opponent away, and follow up with either Helm breaker, or kIller bee

Advanced Combat 4 - Juggernaut Cut, perhaps Vergils strongest Attack, but the problem is taking the time to charge it up. But this can be avoided by using Yamatto's Rapid Slash (R1+Forward Triangle) and buffering Juggernaut cut simultaneusly. This can also be used to Round Trip for force Edge with a quick swap of Devil Arms

Note the 2nd half of the vid, Round Trip provides another large window of opportunity for Buffering Juggernaut cut, making this an extremely useful technique.

THe spiral swords can also be used simultaneously, as well as both R1+Forward Square and R1+ Backward Square attacks. Using everything together, even DMD opponents cant survive against this onslaught.

Vergil is a lot different, basically no technique, just raw power. Once you get a hang of the 3-tier weapon switching, and now how to get to the weapon you want, the combos can flow pretty smoothly, and virtually endlessly. Check out my guide, its not amazing, and I'm no pro, but there are a few tricks in there which I picked up which may be of help.

a trick i learned from Venom is to Just Release their attacks, not only do you go thru them and get the bonus damage, as well as a new spot, but the release also stuns them

yeah still need to get better at that, had Agni and Rudras timings down pretty much b4 I switched to Turbo, that threw everything off, lol. Neway, was just fighting those guys on DMD w/ Vergil, and i tried so many diff things, and got raped everytime. But the last fight, I purely used Force Edge, and just tons of Air Trick dodges, and i destroyed them. Such a good method for those guys. And the Force Edge combo can even stop their swords

Or, as i would do it, you could up load a pic for free on PhotoBucket which will provide you with a URL to that picture. yeah, i found no such code so no worries. There is one for the original DMC3 but it doesnt work on the SE. As for pics, not too sure, but Kevvy's got it covered. And yes, I never played DMC1, but owned DMC2 for a while, and had nothing to compare it to at the time. But yeah, the game is no doubt craptacular.

I haven't checked Dante but I think it works for him too.

Controls is what I mean. I haven't had the chance to attempt anything I've seen with Vergil yet but some of the things I've seen with Dante I really struggle to do. Like when trying some of the combos in the Hell Sloth vid, it was really tough moving my fingers around the pad, buffering things, holding buttons down etc. There must be a more ideal configuration for this.
