I have to agree - Though the online part is getting better and better for me. Yes, it is a bit broken, but 90% of the time it's working for me now.

The handling really clicked with me last night (PSP) - the balance is really nice between when to drift and when to just take a corner normally. My racing is much improved, as is my enjoyment. Like the slipstream element too, the risk/reward of tailgating is pretty neat.

Not seen any cool fly pasts yet - some ducks and an airplane is as exciting as its got so far. Do these happen only after the split section with the cones or in other parts of the tracks?

Picked up the PSP version today and I'm REALLY impressed!
SOL, you and your team have done a fantastic job! The conversion has exceeded my expectations.
On a side note, which view are people using? I used to use the external view but now I'm using the in car view. Any tips on how to position your car while drifting in the in-car view?

            Thanks!

I'm really loving that track 'Radiation' - it's a bit bland to begin with but by the time you get to the 4th stage it's well funky!

I've been playing in Exterior View with the music off so I can listen to the engine. Not had a session with the headphones in yet, will give that 'Radiation' track a listen. Do you need to buy it? I'm saving my miles up for the red and white striped car...

Yeah but it's one of the cheapest, no big deal to buy.

I've got a soft spot for the arranged version of Who Are You?

Edit: Holy ****. Check the PSP Outrun 2006 thread in online gaming/challenges.

I'm #1 in the world! WTF!

Silvergun, I realise that without seeing me on my psp you may have a hard time helping me out but I'm trying manual and have trouble with the shift drift. Sometimes it works no problem and I can see how it gets a tighter drift.

My problem is that I don't seem to be able to do it consistantly and I'm not really sure why. Sometimes my car just doesn't drift. I'm flicking it down to 4th and then back up to 5th as I turn and that does it some of the time. Is there something I might be missing?

Also, even when I get it, I'm having trouble on S-bends. What's the best way to swing the drift around the other way? Sometimes I don't seem to need to do anything other than steer the car the other way. Other times the car just won't budge. So I tried another gear shift down and up, which should send me into a seperate drift (I thought) but I'm finding that mostly just takes my car out of the first drift and straightens me up, which is no good in those S-bends.

                            Any tips?

You have to be going fast enough to be able to pull off shift drifting - Just around the 240kmh mark. Under this and you have to brake drift, so keeping up speed is essential.

                              Turn first, then shift down/up.

S Bends are just bastards. The difficult way is, as you said, to go into a shift drift, then immediately let go of the gas to grip back onto the road, then slam back down onto the gas and do another shift drift the other way.

The easy way is to shift drift into the first corner, then slam on the brake and turn the opposide direction until you change the way you're facing, then slam back on the gas.

Ah so it's a combination of shift drifting and brake then. Cheers. I abandoned the brake altogether when I went to manual. I'll give that a go!
