i can do it myself, someone figured out a really easy fix for it... i just don't really feel i want/need to. my friend's list is practically all playing oblivion and i hardly feel left out, it means i've less incentive to be inside on the xbox and coming up to summer i'll be out on my bike most of the time anyway. gaming is very much a seasonal pastime for me, winter i'll spend loads on games, come spring it's all on bikes.

and dimmock, i've tried but it's not easy... there's a thread on this (by me) if you care to read it.

and now back to battlefield </hijack>

      Fair answer Mr Crisp.

So, should I get BF2 or not?

Crisp, why don't you have your hands cut off and have your left hand reattached to right arm etc? You might be able to get it done on the NHS? Although I hear the waiting list for this in Coventry is massive.......

Is it possible to play the game singleplayer but with bots?

No private rooms is a major disappointment. I just want to go in a room and play with the same group again and again!

You can play with the same group over and over, just cant lock out randoms.

You can't play the multiplayer game as a single player game with bots. This should have been the basis for the single player game.

Took my copy of Tomb Raider back this morning and picked this up. I quite like it. I never bothered playing it on Xbox, but I did play it for a fair bit on the PC. Seems an ok port. Still good fun if you ask me!

This has got some serious issues. I've really only played it online so far, and a day in it's starting to grate.

The biggest thing is vehicles getting caught up. You blow up a jeep in the middle of the road, forget about driving over the remains, you'll just hang up on it and be unable to escape for ages. Meantime the "physics" engine ****s up and wierd things happen - when you do escape, momentum can be built up and you'll spin round for shoot forwards or something daft.

It's frustrating enough that the scenery is so solid. Come on, a tank stopping dead because it hits a lamp-post? Not only that, it does the tank damage!!

24 players would be enough if the maps weren't so big, but most of them rival the bigger 64 player maps on the PC version - and sometimes they were sparsely populated. Also, none of the maps I've played (which is by no means all of them) really shine. Where's Kirkand??

Spawn killing is equally annoying. You can't be shot for the first couple of seconds, but if your team gets pushed back until you just have your first base, you may as well give up. You'll be camped to death.

And to top it all off, I'd swear somethings wrong with the damage system. In my last game I shot someone POINT BLANK in the face with a shotgun. They then stabbed me with a knife once and I died. Please! Even if he had just a fraction of health left, I'd have liked the blast to push him back.

So yeah, I was really looking forward to this, but it's not really doing it for me. It's not even got 4-player splitscreen (let along with bots). I never played the original XB version, but best I can tell, it's got slightly nicer graphics and that's it. It's got annoying bugs that just could not have been missed in QA, it's unbalanced, and the scoring system just seems wrong (wasn't ever great on the PC, I still say taking down a tank should be worth more than a single kill).

Does it restore any of the major functionality that was stripped out of the PC mode, like the Commander options? I played the demo and was mildly impressed, certainly a big improvement over the XB version, but still a very watered down imitation of the PC original, or so it seemed.

Nope. There is some kind of air strike, but I'm not sure how that functions. It's something to do with entering a command post and activating a computer, but I've not even scene it so who knows....

I wouldn't mind the arcade style if it just felt robust.

Chain I disagree with the majority of your post. I agree that the game has issues (if you want to call bugs issues), but what it does right it does really right.

For example - I don't think the maps are too big, they feel just right for the amount of players. Just played the SpecialOps map and its a stunner - 6 bases up for grabs in an hilly area, charging up the hill, fall into a ditch and spray the advancing enemy. it was an 'ebb and flow' situation, with us taking one base and then dropping back to defend the last base and vice versa.

The weapons feel nicely balanced, the new additions such as the laser designator for air strikes, the gps locator (snipers can camp out, and highlight enemies via gps), the mortar attacks etc etc. Anyone can use the artillery - just log onto the command tent (press A near it) and you can then use the map to drop arty on enemy positions. I am even loving the feel of the vehicles, so easy to control using the pad.

Just wish they had added some of the stuff from the Special Forces addon for the pc version - zip lines and night vision would have made my life much easier (this is very dark inside buildings).

Just need to sort out some clan matches now

Finding the online play really fun.

One thing that annoys me is the respawn time. Sometimes its 20seconds, and others its immediate. Anyone know why this is?

At a guess probably because players respawn in waves, so lots of people spawn at the same time.
