Had a quick go during my lunchbreak......well far quicker then i had hoped the opening cutscene goes on for a while.

when it finally got to the game i really enjoyed it the brush system seems to work very well

The opening cutscene does go on quite a bit but it gives you all the story I guess and it's just been that one (so far) so not too bad.

The brush technique does work well, except when my excuses for circles just don't work, then it can get kinda annoying but thats my fault I guess.

        I've just killed the

        spider queen

        boss. Wow. Stunning visuals.

After playing practically nothing but 360 games all year its refreshing to play something thats really Japanese in style.

Well i'm loving this so much, the art, the sound the brush work... it's mind blowing. Who needs the next generation? Bring on more PS2 beauties please.

Awesome, absolutely awesome. Just come back to the first save point and I wanna play all night long.

Got this today, and it's as beautiful as I remember from the Japanese version I briefly played. But, irrational or not, I'm still right pissed off with that manual. Why would you spend so much time and effort making a game look so beautiful and stylized and colourful and stuff, and then they print the manual in b/w. If I built myself a house, I wouldn't forgo wallpaper and use **** instead. UGH.

If you can't understand this, check out these photos of the Japanese manual that someone over at GameFAQs took.

                Mine arrived this morning!

Wow, the game really is beautiful. I adore the little effects like the plants and flowers that spring up under Amaterasu's feet, and it all just looks so alive. To be honest I'm not completely convinced yet by stuff like the combat but I'm willing to let the graphics drag me along for now. It's just gorgeous.

I just wish there was an option to turn of the speech. Reminds me of Animal Crossing and is already starting to grate.

i Really like this game to be honest i knew little about it when it arrived ( i assumed it would be a 2d game like viewtiful joe)

                  But it really is impressive

The speech i agree i did not like (Reminded me a bit of killer 7)

Seems to be strangly satisfying brining life and colour back to the landscape

Yeah, only played for about an hour and after

                    Drawing my first sun

I felt so satisfied. I care for this story, which is weird because I don't usually pay attention to storys. Must've been the pretty colours.

It's got Zelda written all over it, but the brush feature is just a STROKE of genius!

must have missed that one. i dont think it deserves an 8, it shouldn't be lower than a 9 imo and i don't find controlling amaterasu sluggish at all.

This is a cracking game with bits of crude humour and visual design to die for, and a surprisingly good localisation. The controls work well, and for those who go by comparisons, Amaterasu isn't any more sluggish than Link is in the Zelda games.

My only complaint concerns how you're guided through most puzzles by your companion, Issun, who frequently interrupts the action with random chatter. You'll love Zelda's Navi once you've completed this.

                            Other than that, fantastic game

Ok, really did like this game at first, but after spending nearly 2 hours on the first boss and now getting stuck on the "bit on the river", what the **** am I doing wrong with the vines! Its so trial and error its not true.

If anyone has any tips regarding drawing the vines, please post. I'm about to give up on this game. I cannot justify spending 3 hours + getting stuck on a small section of a game, no matter how good it will be afterwards. Lifes too short.

Are you making sure that you're getting the green smoke under your brush when you draw? As long as you get that at both the start and end points, it should connect. Also, the brush will home in on the right place if you stop moving it once it's roughly correct.
