Jesus, you guys obviously really know your onions with Mario games. Having just read some of the spoilers on the threads, the way that the unlocks work for other Worlds is too ****ing vague for me. How the hell do you find this stuff out? Is it prompted "in game" or do you always have to have a bloody FAQ in front of you?

It's pretty much all prompted in game. It's fair to say that there are one or two things that tip a hat to Mario secrets of the past (anything involving
jumping 'on top' of the visible level and running above it to a secret area
, for example), and there are one or two really obscure ones to test the hardcore Mario fans, but most of the secrets are just things that you maybe don't pay heed to first time round, but when you eventually spot them you wonder what the level has that particular feature for, and then..

Is anyone playing the multi-player mini-games? Many are re-tooled Mario 64 DS games, but they work remarkably well with multiple players, and there are also plenty of new games in there.
I spent hours on it last night set to shuffle mode. Makes this package all the more worthy. No wonder I pretty much play exclusively on my DS thesedays.

Just got this this morning from my VG+ preorder (Royal Mail's fault).
I like it but I think for me it's about 7/10 standard. It might get better but for me, I'd have preferred the controls to be more responsive like Super Mario World. And the reliance on the 3D characters and such means it's never as nice looking as SMW to me. I'm loving playing it though.

Still giving this some serious lovin' but now I got animal crossing it's getting less played.
Anyone else get frustrated by certain levels/tasks in it? My current one is how to open world 4 up! I know how, but every time I get to the boss as
mini mario
I can't kill him.
Trouble is, when I beat him first time I was fire mario so it was a piece of piss...may even have been SUPER Super Mario!

OMG UR RONGft:
.. er..
I beat it in the conventional sense in a couple of days too, but seeking things out has extended the playtime considerably -- and the real ace in the hole: I keep going back to earlier levels to play them just for fun. Which, in the end, is what keeps you coming back to a game long-term once you've achieved all the 'goals'. 8)
