I just got murdered twice in a row in RANKED ****ING MATCHES due to LAG!

Both matches half the time they didn't even move and then suddenly when I thought the point was won it would get hit by an invisible wall and come back lightening fast.

This is a game where if the opponent is laggy it really should kick them...as in Ghost Recon. I quit the second game, I'll be ****ed if I'm going to lose 11-0 because I can see where the ball is until it's on my side of the table!

Just when I'd decided I like the game, it starts crashing on me

The first crash was during a single player exhibiton match, so I wasn't too bothered. The second one was during a ranked match though (that I was winning), so not only did I have the annoyance of having to reboot and forfeit the match, but the other player also decided to leave me bad feedback for quitting early

Don't want to worry you but that looks like the early signs of your 360 going tits up

yup what you see there appears to be corruption of the gfx card's ram, probably due to overheating. if it only happens now and then then just keep the thing cool. probably obvious, but problems like that usually show themselves only after the chips are running at higher temperatures.

as for the game itself, i probably won't be playing this online for a while yet. i initially hated pgr3 as i'd play online and just do crap. now i love it online more than offline as i can actually play it properly (to an extent - i'm still relatively crap!). table tennis sounds like it'll be like this, so i'll probably play it offline for at least a few weeks. not saying i won't *try* it online - i will - but if it's frustrating you lot the way it seems to be then there's no hope for me

Yeah, I did half expect to see smoke coming out of the vents, but I've found that a lot of games go weird if I start having problems with my net connection, so I'm hoping it's just that (I did try it again later when I was disconnected, and it seemed fine).

Saying that, I have had quite a few problems lately, including this error message during the Peru level of Tomb Raider:

To raise focus you should be aiming the ball as near to the limits of the table as possible. You do this by holding your aim for as long as possible, gauging the rumble of the controller and not over-hitting.

If you continue to do this your focus fills like crazy. Against tougher AI opponents its generally a pre-requisite that you out-focus them. I was playing against Carmen last night and she was just killing me in the pro tournie and I was playing as Mark, with his powerful topspin forehand.

In the end I resorted to only playing winning shots when I was in focus mode. Outside of that I was attempting to force her onto the backfoot by out-powering her away from the table. So it was a case of topspin after topspin as near to the end of the table as possible and filling the focus bar like crazy.

Once she was out of position and I hit full focus (I have it on auto-focus now so I dont have to hit the button to activate it in the middle of a speed crazed rally) I started going for some real winners.

              Try that.

Also I agree with people here... yes the AI is a complete bastard and it does tend to get unfair at the higher levels but its not impossible. Practise makes perfect and certain tactics work best against certain opponents. Plus it seems some rivals are incredibly tough depending on who you have chosen as a player.

              Choose wisely.

Just lost (for the 3rd time) to the bastard egyptian in the first tourney by 1 point, what a bastard! Was using the backspin tactic, which he didnt seem to like, but whenever he managed to get a powerful forehand shot in, it was cry time. Tomorrow is another day, and he WILL be beaten. Maybe. ?_?

                  Yeh its a tough game.

Personally I think medium difficulty is about right for the AI opponents. They are not super-human and generally play a decent game, though they can get rather jammy if its going down to the wire.

Mine did that once during Ninja Gaiden Black and then it kept doing it over and over again, you need a new one matey.

Does anyone else have that annoying thing where after you put a LOT of spin/direction on the ball, after the character has hit it, he/she pulls left leaving the table completely open...you have no chance of getting to the ball and sometimes the character won't even swing when you hit the button?

I agree on "Certain opponents are more difficult to certain characters" (or thereabouts)...as Lui Ping I find Haley immensley difficult but I've never really had a problem against Jesper.

YES Especially online, a real pain in the ass, so in revenge I keep trying to get baldy ping to fall over. I wish I knew what made them do that...

I've noticed that even if you correct it, he'll take another step left/right before he goes back the way you are scrambling to try and get the ball from...

I think the online is where its at but it is criminal in a sports game such as this (fast paced etc) that Rockstar didn't include a lag-kick like in Ghost Recon. If you are against someone like that you can't see them move but they'll smash it back from an invisible wall and you don't even see it until it's on your side of the table.

Can't be that hard to integrate somehow that if you lag you are kicked and nobody loses the ratings etc if its ranked.

Well both me and friends have had the 'lag' wall happen and I don't think it can really be helped. We're both on 4mb conections and it happens on the odd occasion.

Your best bet is just watch the ball and ignore the player.

This is really great online, just a lost match, but the match point rally was 85 shots, never known some fun/tension for yonks in a game.

Also just won first online match, bliss..

Cheers for that mate - think my problem was i was trying to be clever by mixing up my spin shots and stuff when i should have just caned the top spin in order to get to the focus action.

Might pop back online in a bit now
