Still not managed to get on....

I assume the "not working at 720p"/with VGA cable isn't true? What's the secret to getting on then? Try, and try and try and try?

When I got the game yesterday, it wouldn't let me on and I just though 'Hmmm, the UK servers can't be on yet'. I tried again around 5pm and got on three times.

Since then nothing. I'm guessing at the weekdn i will get pretty cained. |Still not good though and you can't even play peer to peer games.

Well, at least it's not as if the online component is the only thing worth spending ?40 on the game for, and is totally central to the experience...

            Hey hold on!

I think I'll try again. But you've got to say this is a major, pardon my French, **** up. I'm sure we'll look back in 6 months and laugh.

            I'm sure.

Errrrrrm i posted this on the last page i guess people just didnt read it but sega said

'We are currently experiencing some issues with the online component of Chromehounds. We have discovered that there is an artifical limit on the number of players that are able to play online at any one time. SEGA would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to assure you that we are working to correct this issue. We have already carried out two rounds of server maintenance and greatly increased the number of players that can play online. At this time we are working with Microsoft to increase this number even further during the scheduled server maintenance on Tuesday 11th July.'
The reason people are having probs is because the server is full because the server limit is fooked.

Well that's OK then. I mean I read that and thought, thank **** I've spent 40 pounds on a game where due to a mistake so blindingly obvious that my grandma would have picked it up before release, I can enjoy the torpid single player mode safe in the thought that a limited group of people are having fun online. Thank the Lord! Hallelujah! It all seems so reasonable now.

Strangely they've changed the naming convention on the parts between offline and online play, so trying to figure out what you already own can be a bit annoying.
There he goes again, replying to his own posts:

It looks like the items you can buy at the online shop are slightly inferior to the parts you can get from the single player missions, so there's a reason to do them

Once you're in a squad you get access to 'special parts' which are divided into 'experimental' and 'captured' parts, stuff there seems to be slightly better than the shop items, but it looks like there's only one of them per squad and to get them you have to submit a lottery request and wait for it to get raffled.

I did a test (in a single person squad) and it reckons that the lottery itself will take place in another 14 hours, so no idea if it's a set time per day.

I'm planning to sign up to the NTSC squad tomorrow (if I can get online with it that is). Mrs G is out for most of the day so I'm hoping for a long uninterrupted bit of Hounding.

Finished the Soldier story arc last night. Managed to get all ?S? rank except for one mission (the 6th I think). I have achieved both the requirements for getting ?S? rank ? just haven?t got both of them at the same time. Mutter, mutter, grumble, grumble.

I?ve also had fun tinkering with building my own Hound. Spent as much time doing that as playing the SP mode. I want/need more parts though!

it would be one hit kill only I had two of them ^_^

Still can't get on, rather annoying as the Live element may be all that saves the game for me.

                              *sigh*

                              Still not got on once.

But a question on SP. Soldier arc. About the 4th or 5th mission, to attack the enemy HQ, bottom right of the map. You wander over a few fields, kill everything in your way and then reach a COMBAS and a base. What then? You can't destroy either, I peppered them. No joy. Anyone done this one?

Keep hammering that structure down there, the one that looks like a hanger. It takes a battering so just keep throw bombs at it and dispose of any mechs that come down the road.
