I've got it too. A few noobs games would be good!

My copy arrived in the post this morning and I've only got one question: Am I missing something that everyone else is seeing? It's being portrayed as an amazing shooter but I really can't see it. The controls, in my opinion, are awful. Really sticky and sluggish and that's on the highest sensitivity setting.

The difficulty level too seems wildly out of balance swinging from super-mega-easy to hardcore-double-hard-bastard in a few seconds. I've spent 90 minutes tonight (on Very Easy) trying to crack the final stage alone after only taking 20 minutes to get there

I'm sure as hell going to give it another chance tomorrow (it's getting late and I'm pretty tired so apologies if this seems a bit rantish) and I hope it improves but I'm not crossing any fingers.

It seems that I've been caught up in the hype surrounding a game that has been unavailable to us PAL gamers for a time (again) and I've got my fingers burned (again). I'm just glad I didn't spend 50 quid to find that out!!!

it is ridiculously hard, I can get to the 2nd stage of cuilian's final boss before I die, it is infuriating especially as there is no tutorial to get you into the swing of things. I only discovered there were button press specials you could do when browsing through the manual last night.
I think I'd rather play Psyvariar.

I just bought it on recommendation of Riskbreaker. (We play PSU together) and he couldnt recommend it enough.

So I should have it tomorrow. Anyone can add my Gamertag, and Id love to play with some noobs on it too (as even them Im sure to get my butt kicked :P)

If you start off with any character other than Cuilan or Ernula, you'll get a much easier final boss. Cuilan, in particular, is incredibly hard.

In my opinion Super Easy and Easy mode are not really "Game mode" but "Cheat mode". They don't offer gaming experience of Senko no Ronde enough.

I recommend to play Normal or higher mode, and try again after improving your skills. Of course you need to understand everything in instruction book before that, though.

Maybe 1cc movie of arcade version will be your help.

Yeah I've done a few so far on normal and had no problem at all once I'd sussed some extra controls and the boss patterns, but that one with cuilan, is just unfair.

Ladies and Gents - happy to play anyone who's new to this like me. Gamertag is Tie Machine - and I'm a Capricorn.

@Kem: Can you post a mini guide how to play?

My first impressions are that it is a bit confusing. I think I like it, but I really have no idea what was is really going on. Battles seem to be about balancing between using your Boss mode early on or saving it for later.

The 100 gamerpoints for losing a Ranked game (against Boris too) was quite generous!

This guide may be of use to folk. I see to recall that it was a member here who created it.

VS mode was alright, but the unpredictability of a human opponent makes a genre that I associate with pattern and uniformity seem somewhat screwy.

I'm still not feeling this, I can't help but feel I am constantly hammering buttons and failing to dodge all buttons due to the unusual ratio of hitbox size :character model.
To be quite blunt I personally I've had more fun playing Aegis wing, but hey at least this is a few hundred easy points.
I don't think this is for me, although during my point harvesting I may have a change of heart, can't currently see that happening.

Hmm, you sound like you're part of the group that Alex Kierkegaard is referring to. You're going to have to approach this game from a different angle in order to enjoy it. My only suggestion would be that both you and your opponent are shmup bosses that have a secondary and more powerful form they can enter, and shmup bosses always trade off mobility for increased firepower, right? Maybe in reality, the bosses you always faced in shmup titles were always spamming those attack buttons because that's how the system worked for them (yes, even those Shikigami no Shiro ones) and had major mobility penalties for launching wave after wave of danmaku.

In which case - thanks! I found it most helpful when trying to get to grips with the Japanese version.

I think it may also be down to my own personal style of play in games in general, Wartech seems to rely heavily on your skills of defense (and dodging) moreso than a game than a game that requires a great deal of skill to deal damage to the opponent, I imagine in games where reall pros are playing this, they can go on for aaaaggggess as they will both be so adept at dodging the damage.
