Definitely one with a turbo. I started out with a 350Z (Fairlady) and got blown away most of the time.

Yeah a turbo is a help.

I tried to scrimp and save for a big upgrade too soon which didn't work. Be prepared to spend a good 5-7m credits (if it's the same currency as JPN version) on upgrading your first car. Tires make all the difference so you can carry your speed through the corners instead of wall-clipping because you have no grip. Early on my acceleration was not so good so keeping what speed I had was a priority.

Once I could win races relatively easily, I went for the R34 and tuned it to the finish.

Got this today and I totally love it! I can't believe I skipped these games on DC and PS2. I'm going to have to get aquainted with them soon.

I have started with the old Supra coz it handles really nice and I've won more often than not. Not sure if I've come across a boss yet but I just had some kind of multi car race and got thrashed. I've got a couple of million in the bank so I thin kit's time to spend it

Free mode without cars is so chilled out. The music is perfect for a lazy, aimless drive around Japan.

          Lovely handling, stunning game.

Just got this in the mail. I loved Shutokou 1 and 2 on the DC and this is basically the same, which is not a bad thing although it would have been nice if they had tried a little harder. For instance controlling the camera with the right stick is pretty much standard these days and something I always use. And on the graphics side of things a little AA wouldn't have hurt and 60fps should've been attainable seeing as the graphics are fairly basic.

Other than these minor complaints it's a great game as always and I'll have loads of fun completing it 100%.

I agree with Sane, however the more and more I play the more I get addicted to it.

Definatly stick your own tunes on the 360's harddrive though and play them instead of the dreadful music in the game. I've never done this before but it's pretty neat how it cancels out the ingame music but you still get the sound effects

........Now where's that power ballads driving CD

What a legendary game. A superb atmosphere, and very nice to handle.

Is the option in game to do this?

That's a standard 360 feature, you can do that with all games.

I need some advice. I've been driving a cheap nissan in the game and figured it was time to upgrade, so I saved up for the Evo IX and bought it. Thing is, I don't really like it, it handles very sluggish compared to the nissan. So I'm wondering if I should buy upgrades for it and tune it so it'll get better or just forget about it and continue with the nissan which still has loads of upgrades left. Basically I need to know if the Evo will be much better once I upgrade and tune it.

Ended up selling the Evo. I managed to beat all the C1 bosses with my cheapo nissan with upgrades at level 2 and then bought a Skyline R34. I had just enough cash to get that upgraded to level 1 overall so I could tune it to turn better. Now I'm wasting everyone on the newly unlocked area . Upgrades cost a ton now though, so I'll be saving up for a while before I can get hat level 4 engine upgrade .

Quick tip for anyone with the japanese version since I spent a while working this out. For Wanderer 341 you need to have a license plate with なにわ in which is 23 down and 1 across in the list. This guy was my last wanderer before the ??? boss and was causing me a lot of headaches!

This won't apply to Import Tuner Challenge users since the requirement for this is simply to use a Subaru.

                          Game finished now!

                            Hulk,
Do you need to race all the wanderers before ??? that seems like a lot of energy.

Yes you do, meeting the requirements for each wanderer is probably the least fun part of the game but destroying each of them in a sprint is very satisfying

Despite its technical flaws its a really enjoyable game!

Yeah I have only got about 7 from each time zone as I have been going along. Lots more to do!
