Don't know who Alexander is yet, though... the baddies seem to be going on about him a bit.

I can't remember who directed me towards this review, but it's brilliant and also answers the question of who Alexander is!!

There's even a Mike Tyson reference as enemies scream "You're not Alexander!", alluding to the infamous rant where Tyson taunted Lennox Lewis for not being as strong as Alexander the Great (and threatening to eat his children to boot).

Nah man. Not for breaking yourself in. You need to get acquainted with the controls, get a feel for the dodges, etc.
I know you'll prolly wanna jump into it on Hard at some point anyway, 'cause you've got the VJ skooling gene. There's a practice arena available in the game. Once you've sorted your stuff out, see how you feel about it.
I know I was pwned absolutely on my first few goes until I got the hang of it. The dodge might seem awkward now, but it'll feel like second nature soon enough. When I went back to the first stage after playing for a while, there was a massive improvement, so I switched it to Hard. There is fun to be had....

I'm playing PAL version - no HARD option yet just EASY NORMAL and some '????', I guess you unlock it after a full playthrough?

Ah yeah, I meant I picked Normal and ran with it after testing the water. Hard is the ???? yes.

EDIT:
Easy mode only lets you reach Level 2 on the difficulty meter.
Normal goes all the way up to Level DIE (providing you have the skillz).
Hard is stuck at Level DIE!!

The level meter indicates the hardness of the enemies in general. It will rise with the success in dodges or special attacks. So it basically gets harder the better you are.

Ah so I was playing on normal but was mostly on level 2. Sometimes reached level 3, died the moment I went above to DIE. Would that mean I was pretty much on easy the whole time?

Got the urge to get back into this, might have to replay.

Getting the LEVEL UP appear gives me the fear though - the demons started throwing fireballs at me (Like they weren't hard enough). Loving the challenge - camp wrestlers FTW!!!

Started playing this at end of my respite hols (took my PS2) for first time and clocked 9hours on it in around 40hours. Stunning game and love the "mock" powerangers battle.

Yeah it's great fun - really nice system - The graphics are pretty flakey but that can be ignored when you're knocking seven shades of **** out of everyone
