I've been racking up Oblivion-like playtime online with this. The multiplayer game is just absolutely incredible. Has made me neglect all my other new games. Nothing on Live can touch this right now imo.

Finally completed the game on Hardcore tonight. It is so much better (and easier) playing co-op than doing it on your own.

Also did Act 1 on insane. Excellent stuff.

I hadn't seen it in action until a game I had a game with Yoshimax earlier. I'm there fumbling around with my weapons and then before I knew it I can see a grenade stuck to my shoulder...BOOM! I'm gone! I had no idea what the fudge had happened. It seems like there's no downside to tagging at all and that needs to be addressed. Using the chainsaw requires good timing and leaves you vunerable to attack, its the whole risk/reward thing.

There is a downside. You can run/jump into the person who tagged you and take them down with you. In enclosed areas it's almost certain they will die as well.

Was about to say that myself, reading that post.

If the person sees you there, they will just run into you and follow you when you try to get away, thus killing them aswell.

If they come up behind you, well they probably could've chainsaw'd you anyway.

Been having some great nade-tag moments as my mate loves sticking them on people. It comes down to a sort of Mexican Standoff that takes place in the blink of an eye. I turn a corner and come face to face with the tagger, DINK its planted on me and he either roll backwards, forwards or to the side. We both know that is going to happen so he has started trying to feint backwards, sending me in the wrong direction as he rolls forwards past me to safety.

Its a wicked little mini game that is now a right giggle instead of feeling like a cheap-arse pain!! Taking them with you is the ultimate kill!!!

Well if you're running up behind someone and they don't see you then why bring attention to yourself with the chainsaw and leave yourself open to attack? Everytime I've been tagged it's been from the side or rear and before I've realised what's going ok I'm dead. It's no way as risky as chainsawing someone.

Well no it's not, but in regard to the comment about it being a cheap way to kill someone, whether they used a chainsaw or a grenade you'd be dead either way in that scenario.

I see no problem with the grenades. If someone's coming up to be from behind with one, they could've killed me by any other means. If someone's coming up infront of me and tags me, I can take them with me and essentially score them one suicide.

Well no, because you can stop someone from chainsawing by just shooting them. Like I said there's more skill involved in getting the chainsaw kill, than just running up to someone and tagging someone with a grenade, but then there's way more risk involved.

You can stop somebody grenade tagging you with a single shotgun blast They have to get right up to you ermember. It's also possible to instigate the chainsaw and take them with you that way.

Did you realise that if someone tags you and you manage to chainsaw them at the same time, you won't die? You're invincible for a precious couple of seconds during the chainsaw animation, and if you time it correctly, the blast will happen but won't register any damage. I've both done it myself and had it done to me... It's especially disappointing when you tag the mo-fo who sliced you up, hoping for some retribution from beyond the grave, and it doesn't work.

One word of caution though - you have to get them to try tagging you face-on, and get them to enter your chainsaw's reach, whereas they can tag you from any direction and might even have a slight reach advantage (not sure on this, it could just be the angle).

I like it because it makes you wary at corners (especially if you're playing against nige)

i'm not sure this is exactly right... i've been tagged and a second later managed to catch them with the chainsaw, after the animation has finished (well after the thing should've blown) it blows anyway.

Finally managed to beat the whole game on Insane (without the use of co-op) ... what a relief!

the only 2 tough points on Act 5 that really tested my patience was:

1. Going up the ladder and taking out the reavers.
2. Raam! ?_?
Absolutely random sometimes what he does, so it's sods luck whether he charges for you straight away/ spazzes out and just stands there sending out his kryll - leaving you with easy torque bow and sniper shots/ or the reavers and random kryll blitz you dead in a flash.

Strangely though, on my winning battle, the reapers and the kryll didn't seem to decimate me as usual. Plus doing shuttle runs to the opposing barricade (and then back again) his guns didn't nearly give me as much grief as it did the 20 or so tries before. Odd.
